72 dpi is the typical screen resolution (a 2" image at 72 dpi will be 2" on the screen). 300 dpi is typical print resolution. The kicker is that you can “resize” a 72 dpi image to 300 dpi, and it will be the same size on the screen. The joke doesn’t really work for me because of that.
