Balls to the wall is an idiom that refers to a maximum commitment or effort; e.g. full throttle. It originates from aviation, in which the throttle and fuel-air mixture controls were shafts with balls on the ends to serve as handles, and pushing them toward the firewall (the “wall”) resulted in maximum fuel flow with a fuel-rich mixture flowing into the engine.
The decorated huge Christmas tree in Seinfeld always makes me laugh hysterically. California: Is that antisympathetic? Or is it the house of Ross, Monica, Rachel and Phoebe?

That’s right, Ralph! Hold it in an abeyance… just keep it in… don’t let it slip out… don’t say it… just… don’t!

Yup. Has to look good all the way around. Sunset Magazine or Better Homes and Gardens might be coming along to take photos.

I agree with his decorating style. Why put them on the back if only the wall can see them?
