I applied for a job in Minneapolis. I needed a job, sent a resume. The manager that interviewed me there closed her door and point blank asked me “Why the h&ll would you want to move to Minneapolis? In the winter we don’t use our parking brake because it will freeze up and we can’t drive.”
Before she got back with an offer I got a job on the west coast.
I prefer the cold. You can always add layers of clothing, but there’s only so much one can take off before you get arrested. Poor Ralph must be freezing.
I love winter, my second favorite season to fall (pre-winter). It must be my Scandinavian genes. Swedes say Det finns inget dåligt väder, bara dåliga kläder. There’s no bad weather just bad clothes.
My dream residences would be a place in the Himalaya mountain range, somewhere slightly below the tree line, and another place closer to sea level. Instead of migrating thousands of miles every year, it would be a short trip up/down the mountain to avoid temperature extremes.
Why do I live here? Well, let’s see: I don’t rock climb sheer faces, zip-line over amoeba-infested waters, sky-dive, bungee-jump, play poker with the pros, or join mercenary forces. So I guess I just need a challenge. Got it.
He’ll remember why he lives there next summer when the weather is delightful instead of intolerably hot and humid. When it’s cold you can always put on more clothes, but when it’s hot there’s a limit to how much you can take off.
