“You are a fluke of the universe. You have no right to be here. And whether you can hear it or not, The universe is laughing behind your back.”- from “Deteriorata”
“Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly 93 million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended lifeforms are so amazingly primitive that they still think that digital watches are a pretty neat idea!”
Contents. The Milky Way contains between 200 and 400 billion stars and at least 100 billion planets. The exact figure depends on the number of very-low-mass stars, which are hard to detect, especially at distances of more than 300 ly (90 pc) from the Sun.

We can assign insignificance or significance to ourselves, others, or the entire universe itself, at our own behest. Those are psychological choices. Which the universe produced. We can further assign inevitability to it all, and that is the only certainty because we’re here to prove that. We can then take that notion of inevitability of us existing and go right back full circle to our insignificant or significant choice and then change that choice if we like. Great fun for the whole family.

Ah, being the insignificant speck of dust amongst the vast infinite meaninglessness. Well, who cares, anyways, as long as we got beer.

All true. Is this supposed to be disturbing? Seems like two facts coupled as a mild non sequitur. :-)

Actually, the universe is not uncaring – YOU care.
