The frogmen didn’t take Tarzan’s knife, or the bows and arrows?

Speaking of bows and arrows, the strip made a point of Valthor not having seen them before. Tarzan made him a set and trained him. They didn’t use them when frogmen attacked. The frogmen left them with pointy sticks while they were untied prisoners. T&V took the bows and arrows with them when they escaped, but didn’t use them on the pursuing frogmen. Why were the bows and arrows introduced in the strip?

Somewhere writer Anton Chekhov is whirling in his grave.

This bear was just minding its own beeswax until the two men showed up, now it gets the stabby stab stab treatment.

Dude! I am running away! What’s the deal? You win, ok! Quit stabbing me!
