Adoptions today: there is a retired vet in the area who is trying to put together enough money to have a mobile spayneuter van. I met him this morning when he brought in the 2 cutest little tuxedo kittens. He and his wife had been up in the Cheyenne WY area for a vet conference. The saw one kitten on the side of the road and grabbed it. Then they went to a kill shelter where, after 72 hours, all animals are put down. They saw another baby tuxedo and grabbed it. They brought them home, and he spayed the girls and neutered the boy. They looked like twins. They are 8 weeks old and at that stage where they hop and pounce on everything. I put some toys in with them and they had a blast. He said if they didn’t get homes by tomorrow afternoon, he would take them back.
A woman and her teenage daughter came in and wanted the boy. However, after finding out they planned to PUT HIM OUTSIDE NOW, we said NO. They said the husband/dad was allergic to cats but they had a house outside. The answer was still no. Can you imagine sticking an 8 week old kitten outside in a dog house in this heat? He would not last the night. The mom was pretty angry.
Susan called me a while ago and said the dad called and complained about is. That we had no right to deny them the kitten. They would give it a good home. Luckily, Debbie said until she spoke with Susan she would not comment. When she found out the whole story, she backed us up 100% and was going to call and tell the man that. Can you imagine that poor baby??
Later, a big family came in. They had been there last week but Susan was a little hesitant about adopting a kitten to them so just said someone was coming to look at it. (one of my babies)
Well, after speaking with the whole family, she was so impressed with all of them that she apologized for making them come back. They took both tuxedos AND one of my babies! They keep their cats inside at all times and they are part of the family.
She said they must have spent a fortune on beds, toys, a huge carrier, etc (I had just left for lunch when they were walking in so I knew it was a big family)
She said they spent a long time picking out 3 kitty pads for the kittens. ( I make them and we give one to everyone who adopts a cat or kitten and then sell them for $5 to raise money for medical care.
I know this was long and wordy (sorry, whosizz -I’m sure I got your name wrong)
