DaleandKristenWhat an ordeal for a small boy, I’ll continue my prayers, He has a long road, but children heal better than us, I feel so bad, here is a (((hug))) from me…
There are plans to get sweet Watty Jr. fixed as well as his first vet visit. In the past, I have been able to handle his older brother and sister. Hopefully I can get him in a cat carrier without losing any skin or wasting a valium. He is such a sweet boy, and we are hopeful that he will be able to integrate into our cat family.I think our little neighborhood is about to get cattier. One of my neighbors, a long time resident, died about 2 weeks ago. Her and her husband were hoarders and keep around 8 cats and 2 dogs. I’ve noticed a few unfamiliar cats around their house yesterday. Barbara and I are afraid that when they move out they are going to simply abandon the kitties here.I plan on making a call to our local rescue, which is usually full. And our local animal control officer to reign in this situation. She is actually nice and had already taken in two cats from this property.
@GrahamIf you wish, i will pull this post.Im going to my first client in a few minutes, but ill check back in before i go to my next to see what you say.
Just a little water weight gain on Chesney’s part. Now he knows how us girls feel some time. Love the kitty water pictures. I had a 75 gallon bath tub and my 19lb bengal would jump in with me and swim around. Needless to say I would have to shower after ever bath. he enjoyed himself though.
I wonder if Chesney is sloshing as he walks…er, waddles!?I had a cat that jumped up on the bathroom sink and asked for it to be turned on so he could drink fresh running water. His feral mom must have taught him that was safer than standing water.
Love the cats drinking water pics. My 2 love drinking water from the tap, Sammy now tells me when by making runs to the bathroom until I follow and turn the tap on.
Fingers crossed we get rain this weekend out west like the weather people say we will
Appreciate your good wishes Whisplica and W + S; Hug received 2 Old, tearing up; Rikki your pics made me smile; SticktheWicket thanks, and trying to answer your question: the pituitary loss means that Evan now has: hyperthyroidism, also a form of diabetes (parching thirst), must take many hormone replacement meds (and other meds) daily for life. He can start growth hormone in 6 to 12 months (slow growth, short stature, was his ONLY symptom), and must carry a kind of Epi Pen 24/7 due to now having a life threatening condition. He will be taught to recognize the signs and ‘jab’ himself. His Mom (my daughter) and his Dad have explained everything to him and he understood and was ‘gung ho’ to ’get it done.
@daleandkristen – Yup, I know where Markham is – not too far away! Glad to hear Evan is doing better, sorry to hear he has to experience all the life-long adjustments, though. The good thing about that, though, is when it happens at a young age, it quickly just becomes “normal”.
My parents had a cat that loved to jump in the tub & play with the dripping water – up until one day when my mom had filled the tub to take a bath, and he jumped in not realizing it was full of water. I don’t think his feet even touched the bottom of the tub as he jumped back out! He never went in the bathtub again, poor little boy.
daleandkristen, Evan is a remarkable young man! And I mean man, at such a young age he is remarkable. He knows what he has to do, and that is brave and courageous! And it’s true too, at his young age, for him it will become the normal. I think he will do well! Probably better than the 4 of you, parents and grandparents. :-)
Last hummer left the nest this morning. I saw it sitting on the edge of the nest just like the articles said it would. I took one last picture. I came in the house and was watching out the window – it flapped it’s wings a few times and off it went.
Adoptions today: there is a retired vet in the area who is trying to put together enough money to have a mobile spayneuter van. I met him this morning when he brought in the 2 cutest little tuxedo kittens. He and his wife had been up in the Cheyenne WY area for a vet conference. The saw one kitten on the side of the road and grabbed it. Then they went to a kill shelter where, after 72 hours, all animals are put down. They saw another baby tuxedo and grabbed it. They brought them home, and he spayed the girls and neutered the boy. They looked like twins. They are 8 weeks old and at that stage where they hop and pounce on everything. I put some toys in with them and they had a blast. He said if they didn’t get homes by tomorrow afternoon, he would take them back.
A woman and her teenage daughter came in and wanted the boy. However, after finding out they planned to PUT HIM OUTSIDE NOW, we said NO. They said the husband/dad was allergic to cats but they had a house outside. The answer was still no. Can you imagine sticking an 8 week old kitten outside in a dog house in this heat? He would not last the night. The mom was pretty angry.
Susan called me a while ago and said the dad called and complained about is. That we had no right to deny them the kitten. They would give it a good home. Luckily, Debbie said until she spoke with Susan she would not comment. When she found out the whole story, she backed us up 100% and was going to call and tell the man that. Can you imagine that poor baby??
Later, a big family came in. They had been there last week but Susan was a little hesitant about adopting a kitten to them so just said someone was coming to look at it. (one of my babies)
Well, after speaking with the whole family, she was so impressed with all of them that she apologized for making them come back. They took both tuxedos AND one of my babies! They keep their cats inside at all times and they are part of the family.
She said they must have spent a fortune on beds, toys, a huge carrier, etc (I had just left for lunch when they were walking in so I knew it was a big family)
She said they spent a long time picking out 3 kitty pads for the kittens. ( I make them and we give one to everyone who adopts a cat or kitten and then sell them for $5 to raise money for medical care.
I know this was long and wordy (sorry, whosizz -I’m sure I got your name wrong)
@Gweedo, Staracat, Mary and Dry…your comments had me agreeing wholeheartedly about Evan considering his condition ‘normal’ going forward. His Dad told me that Evan is up…a bit wobbly…talking more and had a popsicle! Still in ICU hooked up to all kinds of equipment.
During the Dale and Kristen era, when I showered, Kristen walked on the tub rim between the liner and curtain. She slipped in more than once. Every cat I’ve had also followed me everywhere, which is OK, except when it involved the bathroom. They nudge the door WIDE OPEN at inconvenient moments LOL. In today’s strip Chesney looks like a water balloon just waiting to be dropped on ‘the unexpected’ victim.
@QoAIf you want save an animation like the ones posted here – as several people have said – right click the image and select Save image as or Save picture as (depending on the browser). If you rename the image be sure that the name ends with .gif. When you use Windows Explorer to find the image you saved it will not be animated. This doesn’t mean you’ve done something wrong it’s just Windows. To view the animation right click it and select Open with then select your browser from the list. A new browser window should open and play the animation.Emailing an animation can be tricky. Yahoo mail does not handle them well, gmail it’s no problem. If I recall correctly you use aol which I’m not familiar with so I don’t know how it handles .gifs. You can try emailing one to yourself to see if it works.Hope this helpsX

Ah, but one key to Chesney’s personality is excess. So this is credible. I wish more kitties would like water…just not to that extent! LOL
