Just to update everyone on my brother Mark after our car accident about two and a half weeks ago – he is slowly but steadily improving. They got the tubes out of his lung and he has been transferred to a sort of rehab hospital. His tongue is still purple and they still don’t know if he will lose part of his tongue. He still has the trach tube in his throat but they are going to be working on getting him onto a smaller tube so he can eat and talk again. He has been able to sit up in a chair during the daytime and they get him to stand for short periods of time, but they haven’t really gotten him walking yet. They expect him to be in the “specialty hospital” as they call it for about three weeks. He is still in good spirits, giving lots of “thumbs up” and “okay” symbols. I’ll be so glad when he can talk again!
My sister, Mary, is doing better as well, at least emotionally. She still has a bruise on her leg and a hematoma which she is keeping an eye on, as blood clots can travel. I was the luckiest one as all I got from the accident was a bruise on my right upper arm which has now completely healed.
For our resident troll, no need to tell me this isn’t Facebook. I already know that, but many people here care about people other than themselves, so I will continue to post updates as I desire and you can just skip reading my posts.
