October already! What happened to August and September? I want a do-over of summer!
It is also:
International Music Day
National Homemade cookies Day. I’m on this one! It’s my day off and I think I should bake some chocolate chip cookies!
National Black Dogs Day. No dogs in my life and at the moment, no pure black cats, but I have a few “tuxedo” (black & white) cats.
National Hair Day. Yep, I have hair! Long hair, almost to my waist. Getting quite gray, but that’s okay.
National Fire Pup Day. That makes me think about the way the doors to the old Cross Plains Fire Department were painted. An artist painted their garage doors with Dalmation puppies, each wearing a fire helmet and a number on the helmet depicting each of the fire fighters. It was so gosh darn cute! I took pictures of the fire station doors. I’m glad I did, because several years later, they built a new fire station and the old fire station was sold. No more fire doors with puppies on them! I still miss seeing that, even after all these years that they’ve been gone.
National Fruit at Work Day. I wonder if we’l have fruit in our break room? We often have things for the “holidays” (like the ice cream cones we had for National Ice Cream Cone Day and the punch we had for National Punch Day). There is a little fruit in the break room fridge. I’ve been getting plenty of watermelons from my garden. More than I can eat before they go bad. So every time I crack open a watermelon, I save part for myself and the rest I cut up into small pieces and put it all in plastic bags and I put it in the break room fridge. I cut open a very large Charleston Grey melon a couple days ago and I put 3 bags of pieces from that in the fridge. Two and a half bags have been eaten. Just half a bag left. I may very well be taking in more on Wednesday – the next day I work.
