National Lost Penny Day. I can’t help remembering the episode of “The Lucy Show” where she found a valuable penny, the dropped it and it fell down in the sewer. I love the part where a cop sees her sitting on the curb crying and she tells him “I lost my penny!”
National Plum Pudding Day
Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday. Fun fact about Abe. He is enshrined in the wrestling Hall of Fame. He had only one loss on 300 matches.
She showed improvement after just 2 days on the oral meds (2 pills as these are once a day ones) but then she didn’t seem to do any better the next few days. I worried a lot about her this time around because she didn’t respond at all to the ear drops, even after 3 weeks. The drops were only prescribed for 2 weeks. But once on the oral medicine, she started getting better, then she seemed to reach a plateau where she didn’t continue getting better so I started to worry again. She was still so unsteady on her feet and still not grooming herself.
But tonight, she finally showed the improvement I’ve been waiting for. I shut her in the downstairs bathroom with a dish of canned cat food then came upstairs to play a few games of Solitaire on the computer. After playing several games, I decided she should be done eating, so I went down and opened the door to let her out. She didn’t completely clean her dish, but she ate most of it. Actually, I had given her more than I expected her to eat. Then I went back upstairs to horse around on the computer some more. Soon after that, I heard a scratch at the door. I opened the door and Lovebug came in and she reached up to me for me to pull her into my lap. She gave me several kitty kisses and is now happily settled on my lap. Finally she’s doing better! She even purred a bit. She still has 6 more days on the oral meds. I hope she’ll be doing even better by the time her pills are gone.
I had a cat named Moe who became diabetic at around age 10 (I don’t remember exactly how old he was) and I had to give him insulin too. I think he only got it once a day. At the same time, my brother. Jim, had a girlfriend named Luann who had a diabetic dog. Her dog was a malamute or husky or something like that. So when another brother, Paul, heard how much Luann was spending on insulin, he thought I was crazy to spend so much on insulin for Moe. He thought I should euthanize Moe instead of spending the money on insulin. I don’t think I ever convinced him that there was a HUGE difference between how much Luann was spending on insulin and how much I was spending. With her dog, a vial lasted about a week (if I recall it right) but with Moe, a vial lasted for around 3 months. And insulin wasn’t terribly expensive in those days (the 1990’s). Over time, Moe started needing less and less insulin and after a year or so, we were able to take him off it completely. He was diabetes free the rest of his life. He died of another illness at age 15.
Hi, all. A quick question for any fan who might know. I seem to remember seeing a Ten Cats comic a while ago where there was a thunderstorm that scared the cats and they all gathered together with Annie in the big chair. I’m looking for that strip, but I can’t seem to find it.
Does anyone here know where it might be? Or was I possibly imagining it? I already found the one where several cats huddled with Annie due to cold weather and the one where several gathered in the same cat-bed after hearing a scary story, but I can’t seem to find the thunder-storm strip.

Unfortunately, I cannot imagine a single animal shelter so underutilized that it would have the resources to search for escapees. I would love to be wrong.

The corroded penny Ches picked up off the sidewalk will go far in adopting Jack back out of the shelter should he be apprehended. [sarcasm off]

Yup, that’s quite reassuring. On another note, saw a junco while out walking today. I also heard a chickadee.
