In response to MCTS from yesterday about my bike being hard to pedal. “With reference to the bike, are the brakes binding? Do both front and back wheel spin freely by hand? Is the chain lubed correctly? Does it have gears and do they work? I know you said you pumped up the tyres, but are the pressures correct?”
Yes, both tires spin freely when I spin them by hand or use the pedals by hand to spin the rear tire. I lubed the chain with a generous amount of WD-40 before taking it out. Maybe I wasn’t generous enough? It doesn’t have gears or hand brakes. It’s a retro-type bike with coaster brakes (you brake with the pedals) I believe the tires are properly inflated. They are pretty hard when I press on them.
My old bike had skinny tires. This bike has fatter tires. Do fatter tires make it harder to pedal?
