    Today is:

    National Chicken Boy Day

National No Rhyme (Nor Reason) Day. National No Rhyme Nor Reason Day on September 1st recognizes words that do not rhyme with any other words in the English language.

Some unrhymable words in the English language include:

Orange, Month, Silver, Spirit, Chimney, Purple,Woman, Ninth and Pint

I knew orange & purple didn’t have any rhyming words, but I never thought of any of the other ones.

I’ve had 3 bids on my roof repair. I’ve already ruled out one because he said a metal roof costs 3 times as much as shingles and I’m pretty set on going metal this time. As for the other two I’m looking at, one bid is slightly higher than the other, but the lower bid would do my ENTIRE roof while the higher bid (about $1500 more) would only do 2 sections – roughly half the house.. But that bid is more detailed and tells me more things that they would do, like chimney flashing and an ice & water shield, etc. But it does not say if it includes gutters & downspouts or the fascia (I sent an email just a few minutes ago to ask about that). The lower bid does include those things. But the higher bid is also a little more money than I have to spend. But one of my brothers offered to loan me money for roof repair if I need help paying for it. But I prefer not to go into debt, even to a brother. So now I’m in a pickle. Do I do half of the roof at the higher price or do I do the entire house at the lower price when it might not meet as high a standard as the higher bid? On the other hand, the lower bid is from an Amish guy and though I know it’s a stereotype, they do tend to be good carpenters and very honest. I have gotten several recommendations for both roofers – people saying their quality of work is very good. I’m leaning towards the Amish guy because if I can do my entire roof for the lower cost, I won’t have to go to all the trouble of getting the rest of the roof done 2-3 years down the road when I’m able to save more money. Plus, because of the way my roof looks, my insurance company took the roof off my insurance policy a couple years ago and if I did the entire roof now, I could get the entire roof back on my policy again, instead of having them cover only half my roof. Decisions, decisions! I need to make up my mind soon before the roofers are all booked up for the season. They both stay very busy, which in itself is a good recommendation for each of them.

That mouse is lucky to have left in one piece. Usually, being a smart aleck to Lily isn’t really a good idea. On another note, saw a dragonfly, four robins, a junco, and a rabbit while out walking today. The rabbit was eating a leaf.

Update on Yesmin. Today i spent the day at my daughter’s doing the virtual learning teacher role with Yesmin’s older sister. Sarah went to Memphis to take the nutrition, and how to give insulin, classes with Yuridia, Yesmin’s mother. They gave each a large binder of information, Yuridia’s in Spanish. They think they will send Yesmin home tomorrow. So Sarah will go back to Memphis again tomorrow to bring them home…if nothing changes.
