More great progress with my mama cat, Annie. Over the past couple days, she was coming out of her crate, but she’d run back in it as soon as she saw me. And if she came out, she hid someplace. But yesterday was a turning point for her. I like to sit outside for a while in the late morning to early afternoon before I need to leave for work. Well, yesterday, I was outside until around noon when I needed to go in and use the bathroom. And there was Annie out of the crate and on my couch. NOT HIDING! She ran back in the crate when I walked past her on the way to the bathroom. But the best part was after work, when I got home. She was on the couch again. She laid back her ears when she saw me, but she stayed put for a while as I worked a bit in the kitchen. But she kept a close eye on me and when she thought I might be coming in the living room (which I did, to bring her a dish of canned cat food), she ran back in the crate. I put the food dish in the crate and she ate the food. I settled in to watch a little TV and she came out and climbed up on the couch while I was just 6 feet away or so in my chair. She even closed her eyes. And she stayed there for an hour while I watched TV. She watched the TV a little too. She even stayed there when I walked past her to come upstairs where my computer room is. Maybe soon I can get rid of the crate. Maybe just leave a big cat carrier for when she wants to hide. Oh yeah, she seems to know her name. When I use it, she looks at me.
