This has been a really terrible month for me. I started right out getting sick, learning I had conjunctivitis. I missed a couple days of work as a result. No worries, because I had so many sick hours available to me. I don’t like being sick, but this was a good chance to use up some of those hours. Well, now here it is, 2 weeks later and I’m sick again. I’ve been coughing and I have a runny nose and a fever. My temperature yesterday ever dipped below 100 degrees. At one point, it got as high as 101.6. So, I did the at-home COVID test. It came out positive. So, it looks like I’ll be using more of those sick hours. I still have around 138 sick hours, if I remember correctly, so that’s no catastrophe, but darn it, I’m tired of being sick! Walmart used to give us COVID pay, but too many people abused the system, so I don’t think they do that anymore. I actually don’t feel too awfully sick, I haven’t lost my sense of taste, but I feel too “barfy” to be able to eat. Today is my regular day off, so I won’t need to miss another day of work. But I will have to stay home all weekend, so that will be at least another 3 days of using sick hours. I want to call the store later today to find out what the COVID policy is. I think I’m required to stay home at least 5 days. I worked through all those days when COVID was all over the store and I never got it. But, I have it now. A pretty mild case so far. I hope it doesn’t get worse, but I don’t expect that to happen.
