Merry Christmas! Shhh! You're supposed to say "Happy Holidays"! But the other holidays don't have Santa Claus! The other holidays have fun traditions, too. You just aren't familiar with them. Then let's celebrate all of them ! To be clear...we'll get presents for all of them, right?
Merry Christmas, a term never used by or heard by the apostles. In fact, Christ is simply a poor substitution for the Hebrew term Moshiach which in English is better represented by Messiah. The “mas” in Christmas is from the idea of holding a Mass on that day. Another thing never done or heard of by the Apostles. So go ahead and celebrate a silly, made up holiday that didn’t even get all that popular until the 1800’s when retailers started using it to bump up sales. Which leads me to the real meaning of Christmas, buying stuff we don’t really need.
