I was in a waiting room a few days ago and TPisR was on, and of course, the volume was very high. I had a book, and my cellphone w/games. But I think almost every other person waiting with me was watching the show, and they were taking part in making bids and coaching the contestants. It was as if I was fully immersed in “The Miracle of Stereophonic Sound.” (I remembered the phrase, but not were it came from. This confused me a moment. I thought only a second had passed between panels, but the dramatic difference in scores says otherwise.

What is that show on TV, and why is the sequence funny?
