grazer - I think that bacon gets all it’s “flavor” from the list of ingredients on the package.
A more “whether or not Real Flavor-FULL” Taste Test of where your pork comes from would be by the taste of (say) side pork strips or chops. The family farm I remember in the 50’s & 60’s had a variety of animals - cows, calves, horses, pigs, chickens, and sometimes turkeys (besides my turkey of a brother ;-))
Today’s mass produced hogs kept restricted in in-door contained in small pens R NOT the same. I’m NOT a PETA Person — although I understand what their talking about — the Pork Produced TODAY is pretty much “flavor-LESS.
So I’m off to the Local Country Fair today - here’s my PSA for supporting smaller, local family farms who know the “old-timer” ways of raising animals. If U don’t live in the country where U can raise your own (take them to folks who process meat - believe me, U don’t want to do “THAT” by yourselves) — Go & support the folks at the Farmer’s Market (or ask for directions to one close to home).
This PSA is also for folks who like their Fruits & Vegis to be Flavor-Full too ;-))
