And then there’s those ^%$#@ Starbucks cups! Outrage!!

I don’t celebrate my birthday for 30 days, or any other particular day for 30 days for that matter. I’ll wish you Merry Christmas on Dec. 25, until then have a Happy Holidays :)

My favorite piece of evidence that the “War on Christmas” is just a ginned-up fantasy promoted by Fixed News to stir the proverbial pot is that, while watching football on Fox, I saw a screen crawl at the bottom wishing all their viewers “Happy Holidays.”

Well done, Mr. Cravens!

It’s absolutely fine to celebrate your faith in whatever way you prefer. It is not absolutely fine to use tax payers money, in any way, including in public schools, to celebrate a faith that isn’t that of all taxpayers. And, no, it isn’t OK to celebrate all of them. We also have to fit in reading, math, science, social studies, art, music, and PE, and there isn’t time.

Anyone who gets bent out of shape about December holidays other than Christmas is free to omit from their holiday anything that isn’t specifically Christian. That leaves you with manger scenes, some of the music, and going to church. Everything else— evergreen trees, holly, mistletoe, wreaths, candles, Yule logs, big dinners, family get-togethers, presents, the rest of the music, etc.— is not remotely Biblical, so just drop it all. The Puritans knew this, which is why they outlawed celebrating Christmas.

The fundamentalist Christian PACS have not YET outlawed freedom of religion…

Ironic, since most of the Founding Fathers were not Christians, but Deists…

This “Political Correctness” nonsense has to come to an end soon.

Growing up I always took offense when people wished me a Merry Christmas. My family is Jewish and celebrated Hanukah. For people to go around saying Merry Christmas it’s like they’re not even acknowledging other holidays celebrated in December.

It does not offend me when other people celebrate their religion. You are confusing me with the rabid evangelicals. Celebrate what you wish, in your private life without the use of gov’t funds. When you attempt to use gov’t funds/position/laws to enforce your belief you are violating the laws – that offends me. What you do in you home/synagogue/mosque/church…I don’t care. And, a wreath? That is pretty neutral, which can represent a generic winter holiday – not religion specific. Try to put a crucifix on it, in a public school, that crosses the line. Same as would placing koran verses on the wall, or a copy of torah scrolls, or even a statement of “there is no god(s).” Secularism (neutrality) is best, and legal, in the publicly funded institutions.
