I save up stale bread for a month to make my stuffing. No box mixes for me.

Winco was jammed yesterday, but we went around lunch time. I normally hit them at 7 am.

We get everything ahead of the Monday before Thanksgiving. I also try to not go to Target, Wal-Mart etc. From Black Friday until January.Peace on Earth!

“Traffic” at Costco was ABOMINABLE when I went this past Wednesday. I go again tomorrow and dread even thinking about it.

That’s egg-zactly why I went to the grocery store this past Friday…and the place was STILL a circus!

We had a tight schedule yesterday: we had to be home to meet someone at noon but there were a few things we needed at Costco so we got there as it opened. The lot was almost full, and there was two long lines of people pushing carts into the store as the doors opened. It looked like Black Friday. Checkout lines that normally are in the front of the store stretched more than halfway down each aisle.

But if you think about it, Thanksgiving is Christmas for grocers.

I had a friend who lied to grocery-shop on Thanksgiving morning. I went along once. It was mostly men who were shopping, since their wives were home cooking. I overheard some fun conversations as the men were wondering about substitutions. (“But they don’t have the red one, Honey. Will the blue one work?” for example.)

On the baking aisle, one gent stopped me because he was flummoxed by his wife’s request. (I’m female, so he figured I’d know.) His wife needed cinnamon and had told him not to get the small one. He had a small one and a large one in his hand, but his hands were so big even the larger one looked pretty small to him. He looked at me and said “They only have small ones!” I was glad to be able to help, and did so.
