Here, the fire ants have learned to keep their mounds below the lawn mower height, making them hard to spot. Also, I used to use Amdro, until I watched a fire ant pick up a granule and carry it across the driveway away from the mound about six feet, drop it, then go back and get another and go it again. Then I noticed the ants were carrying most of the granules away into the lawn instead of down into the mound.
