Let’s just hope that the Cat won’t come back in 2024 (along with little cats M, A, G, and A.) And no… VOOM cannot clean up the stain that this smug pushy interloper has made on the legacy of the White House.
The stupidest part of all this is, the morons on the right calling it “censorship” and “banning”. They do not speak English very well over at Fox. I mean they even call what they do “news.”
I have been enjoying the old Muppet Show, now that Disney has them and has apparently resolved the copyright issues. The James Coco episode started with a “this show has depictions that were wrong then and are wrong now but you can decide for yourself” or something similar. I was puzzled, and still am, unless Coco singing Randy Newman’s “Short People” was the tragedy.
As the words fell flat from that conservative snob, he said “We’re not the ones robbing you! This brown man took your job!” “Millionaires, Billionaires, and all that fluff, they’re saving you tons of aggravation by taking away that na$ty green stuff” “For you would spend it on Floozlers, noodlers and whatzits and stuff, we’d rather keep it all for ourselves, for you, minimum wage should be enough!”
What the Right Wing finds horrifying is unreal. People with no healthcare or a living wage are not as important as 6 books by Suess or MR. POTATO HEAD! Speaking of potato heads! Then they spread the big lie that the relief program won’t help anyone. That is because the 1% are left out.
This is the most directly political cartoon I can remember seeing from Ruben. Nothing subtle here, naming names. I think he’s got some cartoonist PTSD. Hang in there, Ruben!
In all fairness, the Cat in the Hat isn’t getting entirely “cancelled,” just one of the more recent books he appeared in — The Cat’s Quizzer, which I’d never heard of until this came up in the news.
I understand the PC changes to some Suess books are a distraction. That said, if the strip Broomhilda shows it’s classics, I doubt Grelber, in the log with the Hate is Great sign would appear. Hate has become an exaggerated snowflake word. Al Capp’s depictions of Natives and Asians and other ‘foreigners’ (for lack of a better). I think Tumbleweeds has been discontinued but only about ten years ago.

Oh but the cat came back there very next day. They said he was a goner, but the cat came back ‘cause he couldn’t stay a way.

It was dumb of the Seuss people to bury their own history. Mulberry Street is sacred scripture!

How many people will be able to look past the pseudo-Seussisch rhyming and get the underlying message about distraction-theater?
I found it hard to do because his poetry is off-Seuss enough to be distracting!! Which I suspect was not Bolling’s intent.

I apologize for those who have seen this before, but I can’t help re-posting my song about the traitor, Josh Hawley. And here we go:
[Josh Hawley sings]
When I was a punk, folk had no doubt
I’d commit treason with my trademark pout
I did my level best to prove them right
When I told a mob of traitors to go out and fight!
{When he told a mob of traitors to go out and fight)
And thought the Biggest Lie was nothing but a ruse
They revolted just for me—also Trump and Cruz
(And though the Biggest Lie was nothing but a ruse
They revolted just for him—also Trump and Cruz)
I’m never ever modest, so my own horn I’ll toot
I gave that mob of traitors my own Fascist salute
And while the mob rampaged, I quaked with fear
With a certain brownish discharge coming from my rear!
(With a certain brownish discharge coming from his rear!)
But in the aftermath, I voted straight and true
To acquit my fellow traitor, Donald You-Know-Who
(But in the aftermath, he voted straight and true
To acquit his fellow traitor, Donald You-Know-Who)

In all appreciation for the parody, it’s too bad that the meter limps so badly. Seuss is, or rather was, a very skillful versifier.

Ruben meant what he said, and he said what he meant,
“A cartoonist is funny, one hundred percent!”
