I saw most of Tyrone Power’s movies but don’t remember one with a scene involving a ‘hussy’ and a rejected fur coat. Strip is dated 12 years after his death. Could still be a shot at something he did at some point, but can’t say.
“Can I Change My Mind” is a 1968 single recorded by soul singer Tyrone Davis. It was his featured debut and in early 1969 replaced Marvin Gaye’s “I Heard It through the Grapevine” to become the number-one song on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart, and was also a Top 5 Pop Hit, peaking at number five on the Hot 100 2 It was also an R.I.A.A. Certified Million-Seller. 3. The song is featured in the Larry Clark film Another Day in Paradise (1998).
my guess is that 20 or 30 years from now people will be reading jokes about coronavirus while out of context and wonder what the heck is the joke about
Hm. I suspect cdnalor, tony_n_jen2003, and ChessPirate are on the right track, but I’d be more confident if I had any recollection of a specific Tyrone-and-mink-and-hussy storyline in any medium. Flip Wilson’s very popular TV show premiered the same day this strip originally ran; does anyone remember whether he had already established a pimp-like Tyrone character anywhere?

My only guess here would be the old Hollyweird actor Tyrone Power, but I’m not sure when this made it’s debut

“Tyrone” could be referencing the stereotypical black pimp as seen in the movies, but what kind of self-respecting hussy returns a mink coat?
