This reminds me of a WoI strip from the 70s. Same set up, but Blanche, the Wizard’s wife was there instead of princess.

Frog: “All I need is a kiss from a beautiful lady to become a handsome prince”.

Blanche kisses the frog and nothing happens. Blanche looks at the frog thinking he tricked her.

Frog: “Look, I’m only gonna say it one more time”

Mad magazine had numerous takes on this tale.One in particular, the prince is riding away with his bride when a fly starts pestering him.A quick jab of the tongue solved that problem!

You all know the beginning, but continue with the version where the frog asks not for a kiss, but to be put under the pillow next to her that night.So, she takes the frog home and puts him in the terrarium!Hey, I said under the pillow!Get real! This kingdom is up to their necks in princes, but do you realize what a talking frog is worth?I have a right to be a prince, now put me under the pillow.So she did,And sure enough, next morning when the queen came in to wake her up, there next to the princess was the hansome young prince!The queen immediately summoned the king, and to make a long story short, they were married and lived happily ever after.But, you know, to her dying day, her mother the queen never did believe that story!!

But he didn’t say a handsome HUMAN prince.
