I wonder if Jules Verne got his ideas from the Wiz. Jules used the same cannon technique when he wrote “From The Earth To the Moon”, published in 1874.
You do know there was an upper atmosphere research cannon, Project HARP don’t you? used two 16" naval rifle barrels welded together and fired from Barbados. Early 1960s. Big Boom, small payload.
At the 10th Gun Dynamics Symposium (2002) we had a Gun Launch to Orbit session. It is a very cheap way to get stuff to orbit, if you can deal with the g loads.
Also Gerald Bull ran the High Altitude Research Program (HARP) that was about seeing how high you can get with gun launch. He welded two 16” cannons together for it

I recently watched a video where they are throwing stuff up almost into space with a spinning device. Very clever.

Is this how that teapot orbiting the sun got there?

I’m surprised the Wiz didn’t just use teleportation. A spell, a spell there, and, voila, we have interplanetary space travel without ships.

As evil as he is, he still didn’t send a live dog on a one-way trip into space and let it slowly die alone.

The Wizard’s latest amazing feat has included turning a beach ball into a cannon ball and into a space ball.

The Wizard is going to need a lot bigger and longer cannon to get anything even into orbit, let alone reaching escape velocity.
