I can confirm the cartoon. When I went to school, the computer was a huge thing that had its own air-conditioned room. And its own caretaker. Programming was done on cards with the languages SL-1, PL-1. And programming was done in Fortran, Cobol, Pascal. Ask a computer science person about those languages today. The blank look is priceless.
Slick, swept back hair, well coifed; white gloves; power ensemble straight from the Jackie O. collection or, I guess at this time, it was the Jackie K. collection, without the matching hat.
Straight, confident, direct answers, too. I like it! More power to her!
The gentleman with the angled neck and piercing Adam’s apple looks like an anthropomorphic buzzard, but he recognizes talent, nerve and confidence. So good for him, too!
Jeez, he’s got some nerve talking down to a woman… when I hear questions like that at the car dealership or the repair shop, I walk out and talk to the manager.

In our office there was a striking blond named Moxie the foxie. She left after getting engaged to the bosses son!

HR assumes that if you’re part of the generation that invented computers, there’s no way you could operate a modern computer…
