This sure is quite a school board coming up with such things, isn’t it?

If your kid feels bad, how about he / she works at it and gets better grades next time!

You know what feels good? Getting a good grade and knowing that you earned it with hard work.

Just how much was spent on this touchy feely nonsense? Just as participation trophies (?) are horse shite, so is trying to hide grades from kids. Do they really think kids are that stupid? It the same thing as all the name changes for retarded. Kids just use the new names to shame each other.

I don’t think kids will feel better getting straight E’s.

In elementary school the progress is what is important, not a letter grade. There is a vast variation in kids up to age eleven. It is also a good time to find out deficits, like the friend of my oldest kid who had to move from private school to public because the private school did not have the specialists to deal with a kid who could not read (by the way my oldest has a severe speech disorder, so phonics would not work for him nor the deaf/hard of hearing that were also in that school). The only issue I ever came across was from the third grade teacher who thought I wrote a book report for my youngest, I did not… the youngest who started read before kindergarten did it all (I told my kids I went to school, I was there to answer questions not to do their homework, as a math nerd I know you do not learn it unless you do it). Also, the grades get very real in middle school, in which the youngest was surprised to have scored on the 4th grade state test high enough to be pushed into a higher math class starting in 6th grade.

Childhood is a journey, not a competition.

Another change that is unnecessary and like new math, more confusing. Just focus on teaching the kids.

When I was a teacher, I wish poor grades made some of them feel bad. Wait until they become adults.

At least partly preparing him for the working world – “Exceeds Expectations” and “Meets Expectations” are in our annual employee evaluations.
