I was within 5 miles of the middle of the totality last time, but this time it would be a 5 hour drive. I think I can “settle” for 80-90% this time.

The plane of earth’s orbit around the sun is called the ecliptic. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon, in it’s orbit around the earth, crosses the ecliptic in the new moon phase.

It gets dark every night, it’s going to be dark for roughly 4 minutes depending on where you are. What are we – superstitious primitives?

I will not look at it tomorrow. I have no protective gear.

No wonder Cat Stevens sang about being followed by a moon shadow.

I’m in Maine and only need to drive a bit to be in the path of totality tomorrow. Weather is supposed to be great! Hopefully found a spot that will avoid the expected mob.

I live close to the center of the last one, and we were so awestruck that we made plans for this one. Drove 6 hours yesterday to get to the centerline and am hoping that the weather holds.

What’s scary are all these people believing prophecies and such. Earthquakes happen daily. This eclipse was predicted years ago. If your god is angry about something, they should send an email and not let his minions read too much into natural events.

We have had these before I think. We know what happens. It gets darker, roosters crow, yadda yadda yadda…

Is the top of the comic cut off? It looks like there is another word bubble pointing above him.

So rude. It´s going straight through my backyard, -completely ignoring the private property sign.

Praise God for creating such an interesting event that is so helpful in studying the solar corona.

I have witnessed partial solar eclipses in 1979 and 2017. I have experienced many more lunar eclipses, since 1997.

2017 totality rolled right through town. A friend is up on the Maine-Quebec border and says they are elbow to elbow.

Actually, there is a Total Eclipse every day.

    We usually call it “Night”.

was in Ohio in the midst of a “totality” and the few minutes of complete darkness was pretty cool, but nothing worth going overboard on

I drove from Atlanta wo Wildcat Bluff, Illinois. Going up was nowhere near as bad as the gridlock near Paducah coming home.
