Didn’t see that coming, Arlo taking the slugs perspective. Loved nixing the lite.

I can appreciate the tough choice of one last beer before I die. But I wouldn’t want that beer to be the thing that kills me.

My husband and our next door neighbor used to have slug contests every morning during the summer. They put out a certain amount of jar lids full of beer at night and then would count them the next morning. They had a lot of fun doing it.

My Grampa would sprinkle table salt around. The slugs (which we referred to as snails) would just dry up and die.

BTH, beer doesn’t make any difference to slugs. We used to feed several semi-feral cats on our patio, and the slugs would always crawl into the bowl. The cats simply refused to touch it; can’t blame them, as it looked atrocious! I cleaned up their dish, sat it in the middle of an aluminum pie plate, and poured on the beer.

The slugs dived right in, did a back stroke, and headed for the kibble in spite of my efforts.

Ha… yep ! I used to buy cheap Hamm’s Light to pour on my compost pile, and to mix in a homemade plant and lawn fertilizer. My garden and yard loved it ! But hey… I’m more of a stout, porter, or brown ale girl myself.

Reminds me of the joke about the brewery worker who drowns in a vat of beer. His widow asks if he suffered and a co-worker says, “I don’t think so. He got out twice to use the bathroom.”

I had a co-worker who hated Busch Light because he said it gave him a headache. I joked that it’s called a hangover.

He didn’t appreciate the snark. How can drinking one or two beers can give somebody a headache?

They don’t have refined palates, use the cheapest swill leftover from a party (Coors Lite).

My sweetie used to find unfinished beer bottles and such on the sidewalk and bring them home for the slugs. Good way to avoid waste, but I had to tell her she was violating open-carry laws.

Don’t need beer. I had put an aluminum foil pie pan out with birdseed. Overnight, it rained (in Seattle! Go figure.) The pan was filled with water and dead slugs. As they crawled (or whatever you call how they move) onto the rim of the plate, they slid down the sides and couldn’t get out. They all drowned. I put those pans out for years. Always worked.
