There are many heroes very deserving, NONE of them are politicians of the USA—Their reaction of being scared out of their minds has brought us 4 trillion in debt, an invasion of the wrong country for the wrong reasons, torture, loss of the very DEMOCRACY the heroes were/are trying to defend, TSA sexual abuse. What a better way to honor the heroes of 9/11, if even one USA politician would say, “With the strongest weapons in the world—freedom of speech and democracy—we are staking out the course….” (which was said by Norway PM Stoltenberg). Instead, US politicians play games trying to win points by their false hero-worship, hoping that the American public will stay as scared as they are. (and yes, I was hoping that it might change after 2008, but it sure hasn’t!)The politcians have done far more to destroy the USA than Osama bin Laden ever could have done.
Ugh. Not grateful for the attacks, not grateful for the repression that followed. As Bush said, “freedom was attacked today” and freedom has yet to recover ten years later. I miss the America of the 20th century.
Allan V, take a look at all the others, most of the comics have a tribute in some form, don’t scorn the others that didn’t they give us humor which is as healing as remembering.
I really hate to ask this question but I feel I must. What and how many Americans must die for the more than 100,000 innocent Iraqi civilians killed by American bombs and misdirected attacks? I do not think it should be the soldiers following their orders. Perhaps the politicians who sent them there?
(And does that include Rick Perry who has approved the execution of at least one innocent man?)
A simple verse, with complex tones. Yet elegant in its presentation… and loving in its message. Never forget them, the victims and the heros. They are forever part of us.
grog, celleca, the hag, Paula … “BC” is the third of my Alphabetical list of comics (yes, I"m THAT OCD) so when Adam@Home and Andy Capp didn’t show anything … I got a little saddened. Many more people then I expected had tributes, and some people, I expected to have some form of tribute, didn’t.

Wiley’s poems are always great. This one poignant. Especially with another window open to Yo Yo Ma playing a tribute.
