And before anyone asks “where did he get the nails”….carpenters made wooden nails/pegs to assemble things before metal nails were invented…or cut the wood so the joints would fit tightly together.
Funny: The NY Times just had an article explaining pigeons: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/12/science/pigeons-facts.html -and I posted a comment there; I wrote about the piece from which I learned the most about pigeons. Here’s my NY Times comment: My mind immediately goes to E. B. White’s piece, “The Rock Dove.” He wrote it to answer the questions of a Ms. Eugenia Bedell in “Promenade” magazine. It was first a “Comment” note, then was published under the title, “The Rock Dove” (April 20, 1957) in “The New Yorker” magazine. The piece was included in “The Points of My Compass” (Harper & Row, 1962) and, almost a score of years later, in “Poems and Sketches of E. B. White” (Harper & Row, 1981). Mr. White even drew pictures-well, four “figures,” line drawings. Such were the days, pre-computer.
Prehistoric pigeon? The prehistoric pigeon: Small bird that flew above the dinosaurs 120 million years ago is unearthed in Japan – and it could rewrite the history of flight…
Ought to be stickies (do they still call them that?) up top that state that this a comic strip and the timing of any and all inventions, overlap between people and dinosaurs, etc., is completely arbitrary and possible.
That is the same look I get 5 minutes before my dog is supposed to have dinner. Breakfast is always right after our morning walk, and the time will vary.

This very much reminds me of Hitchcock’s “The Birds”.

So it was park benches that first attracted the pigeons, always thought it was the statues.
