I love this one! I’m printing it out and putting it on the fridge along with my leaves and pumpkins! Is that the robber mice wrapped in TP in panel 5? Where’s Tillie?
This is so adorable! Makes me think of the one with Pucky embarrassed to be awarded a sticker for going potty. I love when the children and the cats are in cahoots!
Just want to send out hugs to all, and an extra hug to muffi, Kitty Katz and piwismom. (BTW, sending super strong good vibes to you piwismom, for your Monday appointment).
There’s a certain cosmic symmetry in a cat mummy costume made of TP – what else are you going to do with it after the cat’s unrolled it all onto the floor?
The cats and boy are having a great time in their haunted house. Goldie is in her element as the kitchen witch, and Puck is killer as the mummy! Elvis is sort of a cross between Dracula and Alfred Hitchcock, and Lupin….makes a great brave but misunderstood Creature!
Aha, I spy the infamous orange Tupperware canister in the pantry. We just took all our old TW out of the cabinets last weekend and I’m getting ready to donate or sell it. My old arthritic hands have a tough time opening/closing them now. :-(
I want to get in the Halloween mood but the weather here in my part of Florida has reverted to the hot humid summer pattern after a nice cool down almost a month back, the fronts that do make it to Central Florida dry the air out a bit but do not cool us off too much and it gets humid soon after.
Such is life in the sub tropics and don’t look now but another storm is forming south of Cuba and looks like its gonna make it into the Gulf, looks like it will stay west of Florida and the weather gurus have this one headed for the Northern Gulf as they have had forecast so many times already in 2020. As bad as it has been for many of us, it has been particularly bad for people over in Louisiana east to the Pensacola/Destin area :(
Okay, I read Georgia’s wonderful strip and enjoyed it very much. Jumping ahead just a bit, I was in the water-closet doing my business when Belle came strolling in. By the way, as a side note she is our overnight bathroom decorator. She proceeds to give me ankle reinforcement and I suddenly had an idea, why not wrap Belle up in a little TP, just like Pucky and show Marie? She would get the BCN reference immediately.
Two more observations to relate.
Cats, or at least Belle, do not wish to be mummies. And, Bactine Antiseptic still stings when applied to scratches, just like when we were young.
OT: anyone else get notifications from 4 months ago? LOL I love re-reading my birthday wishes all over again from June, but why would gocomics notify me of them now?
The Pucky as a mummy panel is so wonderful! I love the canopic jars and the hieroglyphics on the toilet. (Did you know I studied to be an archaeologist?) And yes, Puck, you were killing it!
I want to give a shout out to my wife Marie. As some of you know, our son Macgregor has been attending a Ballet Conservatory for the last 3 years. We basically kiss him goodbye in August and don’t see him until 2 weeks in December. Even this year, he is in a bubble at his school, and fingers crossed, all are safe.
Since Mac has been going away, Marie has sent him a fall and winter Box Of Awesomeness! She came up with this idea when Mac first left for training. She includes simple toys he use to enjoy, Knick/Knacks, pictures…just whimsical stuff. In the one going out this week, he has a coloring book and crayons, cassette tapes (Mac is very 1980’s retro) and even a tin of Bob Ross Happy Little Tree mints (Altoids shaped like trees). In addition to decorations for his room for Halloween, Thanksgiving and a little of Christmas for December. Basically, you never know what you will find in one of Marie’s Box Of Awesomeness.
I would have never thought of this, and Mac looks forward to them each year. Alexandria is going away to college next year and can’t wait to receive her own Box. It is a testament to the kind of mother She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed is, and that is why I lover her very much.
For some reason reminds me of my gray-and-white cat who was six months older than the tabby. Any time I left the house, I would tell him, “You’re in charge.” (He was a very responsible cat.) I especially remember one day when he was sitting on the front porch when I told him “You’re in charge.” I could see him smiling to himself in the sun “I’m in charge.”
There’s a recent ad for some dog treat that shows how to turn your dog into a mummy for Halloween. Cut up an old sheet in short strips, soak them in tea to make them look old, then tape them onto the dog’s rain coat. I seriously doubt a cat would put up with that.
I think I like Lupin as the Creature the best. I had a ‘cast off’ model of the Creature from the Black Lagoon that my older sibs didn’t want (not cool enough?) as a kid. It didn’t seem all that scary posed in a RAWR! stance. And then when I saw the movie (sliced and diced on TV) the creature wasn’t all that scary either (the monster wasn’t hurting anyone – just being a monster). And then as an Adult when I watched the movie on DVD (along with lots of other horror movies) it’s the Creature I still like the best (The Creature was just misunderstood! I was on his side!). and thank you Del Toro for the Shape of Water…. loved it!!!
Benjamin Oliver Davis, Sr. Day: In honor of the first African-American general in the US Military. You can read about him here: https://history.army.mil/html/topics/afam/davis.html. His son Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. had an even more distinguished career in the US Army Air Force (he commanded the famed Tuskegee Airmen) and USAF. By all that was ever holy, I’m proud of these Americans.
Punk for a Day Day: If you must. I’ll pass. “Punk” used to be a serious slur in my parent’s generation. So I think instead, I’ll celebrate Puck for a Day Day! He’s a good example to all of us.
International Artist Day:GEORGIA, YOU ARE THE BEST!!! Okay, now that’s done, it’s also a good day to celebrate your other favorite artists.
National Greasy Foods Day: I’m reminded of the line from “Bedknobs and Broomsticks”—"No fried foods? ‘Ow do you keep your ’ealth?" I’m celebrating with bacon and bacon-fried eggs (every Sunday).
World Pizza Makers Day: It is an art form. Some take the artistry to the point of what I consider silly foofaraw: kale and arugula? What’s next, Brussels sprouts? I know of at least one place that has lutefisk pizza on the menu … I’ll stick with the more traditional ingredients, thank you. Even though we don’t have a proper pizza oven, my wife makes a fantastic “garbage can pizza” (lots of different ingredients. The crust is an engineering marvel to support them all.) Unfortunately, we finished the last of it on Friday. Sigh.
This seriously needs to be a print, and I agree with Puck here. Not just Puck is killing it, but they all are. I hear Elvis as Bela Lugosi or Christopher Lee.

We’re horrifically haunty to ruin your sleep
Let the nighttime drop all its darkness on us
