And Lupin is ready for it! Being invisible is no fun if you’re so cold people can hear you coming from your teeth chattering.

I had thought the weather in Toronto was fickle, but then I visited my cousin for the first time in Colorado in 2008. There was a night that was freezing, and the following morning I woke to a winter wonderland, only to have most of it melted by the afternoon when it hit at least 70F.

Neil Sedaka: Laughter in the Rain

Stretched out on the rug right in front of the fire

With my hot cocoa it’s toasty warm

When all of a sudden it’s just way too hot

New England weather running true to form!

Time to get out my Hawaiian shirt!

    …….

Ooh, I hear laughter from Lupin,

Ready for whatever front comes in

Ooh, how I wish New England weather

Would just this once make up its mind!

    …….

After awhile I stretch out on a beach towel,

Basking in a sun shiney sun beam

Taking a nap it all feels like a dream,

Wait, are those clouds covering up the sun shine?

Snowfall is coming, storming one more time!

Why cant New England make up its mind?

    …….

Ooh, I hear laughter from Lupin,

Ready for whatever front comes in

Ooh, how I wish New England weather

Would just this once make up its mind!

This past Thursday at 4am, 47 degrees and pouring out. By 8am, 35 degrees and frizzling. By 11am, 25 degrees and snowing lightly. The snow started seriously by 2pm and by 6pm we already had 5 inches on the ground. Welcome to Michigan…it’s 7 degrees this morning with a 40mph wind. The wood is stacked and the fireplace is cheerily burning.

So glad Elvis is getting into the spirit, even if it’s short-lived. We experienced the opposite here. Humid and balmy one day, then the next the temperature dipped, the roads were slippery, and I was scraping what felt like 30 layers of ice off my car. I wasn’t quite ready for winter to be over, but I didn’t want it to come back quite so vengefully.

Wow… life seems to be imitating art over here… we weren’t supposed to have snow yesterday, yet midday, we had flurries. Weather app said just a little snow, no accumulation. As the day went on, it snowed harder and our no accumulation turned into a full blown squall with up to 50mph winds and almost 2 inches! Kids and cats had a slumber party in the living room (dead trees on side of house by kids’ rooms that need to be cut down) and stayed up watching Lost in Space.

This basically happened this week in Boston — snow storm one day and balmy weather the next.

Also, I love it when Lupin dresses casual. I think his “The Mew” t-shirt was my favorite.

“I reverently believe that the Maker who made us all, makes everything in New England – but the weather. I don’t know who makes that, but I think it must be raw apprentices in the Weather Clerk’s factory, who experiment and learn how in New England, for board and clothes, and then are promoted to make weather for countries that require a good article, and will take their custom elsewhere if they don’t get it.”—Mark Twain

Osage orange logs burn very hot and entertain with a regular fireworks display. Use only in a fireplace with glass doors or a closed stove.

Propane logs. Not as charming as a wood fire but much less noisy for kitties. Plus, you don’t have to buy, cut, and haul logs.

Reminds me of when I visit San Francisco. You always take a backpack and several layers of clothing. No matter what the weather was like in the morning, it would be different by afternoon.

-4ºC Easterly wind 6kph. Mixed precipitation of rain and snow. Tonight -1 to -6ºC. With flurries forecast for the night. Dry, less than 1mm precipitation forecast for tomorrow. Definitely Hot Cocoa weather. Vancouver Island winter, San Francisco summer. And about 1 hour – 90 minutes of splitting wood. Gotta have a warm hearth for the cats.

In Wisconsin we had snow squalls. Even had the warning come on our phones like an Amber Alert. Only lasted about an hour, not even an inch here. Lots of cars and trucks in the ditch. 50 MPH winds had the snow horizontal. My area got through it ok, but a 100 car pile up in Wausau

Wisconsin weather is pretty much the same. It was 50 some degrees on Wednesday. Last night it snowed for about an hour or so almost white out conditions, but only about and inch or two. Today it is sunny and 17 degrees.
