I would say that our cat rates chicken highest of them all. He’s not so big on either turkey or fish. I have to say, in the past few years I’ve also started to rate chicken higher than turkey (it didn’t used to be that way).
I love that bacon is at the top, but why is beef last??? I’ve known quite a few cats who went nuts over beef! And my Cat, what about TUNA?!! Yes I know it’s considered fish, but IMHO tuna ought to have a category of its own! ❤
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: Fellow felines, I would like to express my congratulations to Thomios and his staff for this lovely banquet.
Thomios: Thank you, Your Majesty. I couldn’t do it without my wonderful staff, and the efforts of Bea and Vi for rediscovering the classic recipes of Julia Kitten. Not to mention the fine fish provided by Freshwater and Saltwater, the Water Cat Brothers.
Applause all around
The Queen: And now I understand you have a spectacular array of desserts for us, Thomios.
Thomios: Yes. I have these small cakes known as petite fives (much more decadent than the fours), a whole array of chocolate everything, and a range of souffles and meringues courtesy of an abundance of eggs that magically appeared in the pantry. Then we will conclude the banquet with an assortment of fruit and cheese that appeared along with some giggling in the background.
After the Banquet
The Queen: And now Tabith-Isis will conduct the Red Dot Chorus with a variety of songs. Tabs?
Tabith: Thank you, Your Majesty. I would like to start with a nod to Queen Titania and her hive, Cook With Honey. (Performed by Judy Collins)
Pucky again with a very helpful chart, since our cat reporters go wild for all sorts of food! Glad to see he has excluded meatballs after that one incident. I wonder how it would look if expanded to all people food. What about whipped cream, or frosting from cupcakes, or drinks from people glasses?
It’s only 8:10 in the morning here, but I could go for some bacon wrapped scallops! I love almost all seafood and while I’m not big on ham or other cuts of pork, I love me some bacon and/or sausage.
My Mom’s cat, Babyface, is very upset that I am eating oatmeal and not eating bacon…under the threat of her kitty stares, I will have to cook her a piece…
I haven’t tried people food with Iggy and Punto yet, except for plain chicken or turkey baby food that was recommended as a bland diet for Punto’s tummy. Mash up a pill in the baby food and he laps it right up — that’s good eatin’! Iggy loves it too, so they get some a few times a week.
I bought bacon specifically to fatten up my part-time cat. Unfortunately, it is irresistible to me, as well. I don’t need the cholesterol.
OFF-TOPIC – Tank update
My part-time cat buddy Tank has landed on his feet again. His handsome orange tabby masculinity was such a hit that one of the vets at the shelter is going to take him home at the end of the two-week quarantine. They might not feed him bacon, but he is sure to get excellent care the rest of his life.
Ok, the strangest food you have had a cat go mental about? We had a cat called Linus who was psychotic for glazed doughnuts. Without careful supervision, he would rip the box apart, and escape to some remote part of the house with a whole doughnut in his mouth.
Scallops wrapped in bacon then cooked in Maple Syrup. Maple leafs.
And around her that hierarchy wouldn’t work. The boys hate fish unless it’s tuna juice (better known as tuna water). Don’t give them any tuna, bass, pollock, cod, etc. as they’ll turn their nose up at it (interestingly, don’t give them water off of any fish that isn’t tuna unless you want the same reaction). They just tolerate fish flavored canned catfood, but even then in small amounts. Shrimp and lobster, we categorize seafood as different from fish, things like squid, octopus, clams, mussels, scallops, lobster, and shrimp are seafood and the boys may eat a little seafood if it’s lobster or shrimp and their actually in the mood.
Bacon, forget it. They give you a look that says “That junk is dog food! Do I look like a dog to you?” Their hierarchy pyramid would look like Tuna juice is their top rank. Turkey is the second highest and the highest actual meat. Third highest chicken. Fourth is pork. Fifth beef, and well made corned beef may actually top all other beef in their opinion. Sixth ham. Seventh is the occasional leg of lamb, Greek style. Eighth is lobster, they don’t ant it very often though. Nineth is shrimp, again they don’t want it often and when they do take it you best cut it into tiny, tiny pieces. Then add two levels shown in coffins below shovels with a dogfood can onthe bottom most of the two. These would fish and bacon.
My wife developed ALS and lived only three years after the diagnosis. When she started having difficulty swallowing, she enjoyed eating cracked crab. Of course, she could only eat a little bit, less as time wore on. I have a shellfish intolerance, so my Vivekat was allowed to develop an expensive taste for leftover crab. Few cats get that option.
My meat pyramid would be slightly different. From top to bottom: Chicken, Beef, Turkey, Ham, Bacon and Fish (actually, the first four can be done in any order), I don’t care for bacon (although I can eat it in stuff, just not by itself), and the only fish I could eat for the longest time was tuna, until it started making sick.

…….
Muffin warm and bacon crisp
smiling faces around the table
New recipes, and old friends
…….
(Chorus) And now we cook with honey
For sweet or savory bright
We’ll always cook with honey
Creates quite an appetite
For food we love
…….
Brand new flavors, share with neighbors
Well, it can be so fine
We can share pies of every kind!
…….
(Chorus)
…….
So come and get to know us
There’ll be a place set just for you
Enjoy a lovely dinner
That is surely bound to soothe
…….

Well, I guess it would be nice if I could eat your bacon
I know not everybody has got some bacon like you
And I gotta think twice before I show my chart today
I know all the games Lupin plays ’cause he likes food, too
Oh, he leans into dinner in one indifferent motion
Now it’s time to pick the scraps up off the floor
Oh, when that meal comes over fresh from the ocean
Well, it makes cats hungry, baby
Hopin’ for just a little bit more
’Cause we gotta have fish
We gotta have fish
Because we gotta have fish, fish, fish
We got to have fish, fish, fish
