I don’t know what’s better, the birds telling Tommy they’ll tell old Mag, or the triple axel. and YES we still have pink Lupin! his strawberry feline does seem to be forever! wouldn’t that be a lovely natural color for a kitty? Purple running a close second.
I love all the little, mint green snowflakes Georgia has painted. And, oh my, Tommy has done it! Old Mag will not be pleased to know her spies have been exposed.
In all seriousness pour some hot water over it, birds do appreciate water in the winter. Also, did you know you can tell how scary a threat is by how many “dees” a chickadee puts in its call?
“What you said”.. what that their old mags spies? I mean granted she likely won’t be happy that knowledge is public, but she’s also not stupid enough to send thugs after Tommy after he said so on live tv or to anger Baba that badly.
Sophititi: Yes. Tabith-Isis is just finishing up in Making and Grooming at Barbara’s Shop.
Adobe Style: Good. I’ll tell Figs we can get started.
Serfig-Aro: Welcome, Orb Friends to the Artisans’ First Annual Wearable Art Fashion Show. I am your host, Serfig-Aro and with me is Red Dot Reporter Tabith-Isis. Please make welcome our first models. The Royal Procurers are wearing the reversible tunic. Alice-Ata and Agnes-Ata are wearing the neutral side, allowing them to blend in with the crowd. Violet-Ifa and Ta-Natash are wearing the multicolored side, making a bold statement. I understand you provided the fabric, correct?
The Royal Procurers: We’ll never tell!
Figs: Next coming down the catwalk Iron Glove and Awhil-Fixit the Seventh, our own Wally. They are sporting the accessories all the technical cats will be wearing this year, including the Portable Tool Box. Gentle Cats, thank you.
Tabith-Isis: Both stylish and practical.
Wally: Anything you need, we can fix it.
Iron Glove: Or make a new one!
Figs: And now coming down the runway are our sefaring duo, Elvis-Anum and Iggy Shipwright. Elvis is rugged but graceful in his dancing corsair outfit, and Iggy is ready to sail the seven seas as a pirate. Sailors, thank you both.
Tabith-Isis: Both dressed for success and leisure.
Elvis: I like to show the dignity of my profession.
Iggy: And I like to show the fun side.
Figs: We will return to the Fashion Show after a word from our sponsor.
The chickadees are the scout birds. They sit in the nearby lilac bush watching closely as i approach the feeder and take turns fluttering close by to monitor the refilling process. Sometimes they perch on the other branch of the feeder pole as if to supervise and ensure i’m doing a proper job. Their chatter when i walk away alerts the nuthatches and various finches that it’s okay to return.
The most fearless birds here besides the chickadees are the downy and the hairy woodpeckers. If they’re busy pecking at the suet as i approach they don’t seem to care that i’m walking just a couple of feet away.
Old Mags’ spies are excellent skaters. When I was much, much younger, I fantasized about skating with the late Toller Cranston. He was such an artistic skater.
Impressive, although they had better watch out for some folks with hockey sticks who might wander over from a certain other comic strip. Tommy should know that whispering into a microphone is not the most effective.
Well, they’re more creative than most birds on ice then. The most I ever see of birds do on ice around home is either land, decide it’s too cold, and immediately take off again…or slip, then take off again.
The Cedar Waxwings are here and feasting on the privet berries! These birds are not common visitors here, and I’ve only seen them twice (and never here at the house!)
Like Len Borozinski’s Speechless birds. Less realistic but same theme. You can see his work in https://www.facebook.com/Borozinski/photos/pb.100063497966724.-2207520000./373383736835084/?type=3 Miss you bud!
This just in! You should see the pawsome picture of a heart-shaped Elvis hugging Pucky Georgia snapped in the early 2010’s! I would post the link here, but when I post from Twitter pics, it never works out for me. Maybe a clever Orbster can post it? ❤

Making the most of an icy situation? Oh, yeah, icy! (I see)
Beneath this icy mantle, cold and clean
The cold birdbath lies waiting
For its surface to turn into a funny scene
The icebirds sing the song they always sing
And tell Old Mag of the saying
Doin’ tiny stomps and hops and spring
When Lupin was young
His fur was pink then, ooh
Anything that they would tell Old Mag
That’s the thing that they would do
But now they feel such happiness within
For the thing that they want most in life’s
The thing when you can’t swim
Spread your tiny wings and slide away
And may the fun be with you
Where it came from on that day
There’s chitter and chatter and that’s true
And if the cats could, you know that they would skid around with you

New idea for the Winter Olympics: avian figure skating! Bonus points if the skaters are spies for a raccoon matriarch.

Well, it’s not that far from a pair on ice
At least not for Tommy
And if the spin is right they can twirl for days
These spying chickadees
Oh, the triple axel’s the pinnacle
Just you wait and see, believe me
It feels so far from racoon land
Where missions never end
But if the ice is right they can find the joy
Of innocence again
Oh, the loops are just so spherical
Just you wait and see, believe me
Skating
Takes them away to where they’ve always known it could be
Like a dream, it’s a skater’s fantasy
Soon they will be free

If you want to fly, but are bound to ground,
Come twirl and swirl, go around and around,
Enjoying the flight other dreamers found.
Sash and shay while flying way fast or slow,
Keeping bladed skates soaring as you go.
Attach wings to your feet for fun you seek.
Take your time, flap your beat boldly or meek.
Inhale wonder then exhale your dance flight.
New frozen delight is but right in sight.
Go glide, sail and slice tight with air’s might.
