My girlfriend’s old Maine-Coon “Sid” LOVED the water. Like, she’d have to keep him out of the shower when she was using it. He also loved walks around the neighborhood with his harness. Her followup cat, Homer, a Maine-Coon mix, hated the water and was terrified to go past her front door. shrug
and like most things, cats tend to insist on it being their idea. my Sara dunks her head in her water fountain, but gets extremely upset if you should flick a single droplet of water on her. Gracie does not mind if she gets wet, but doesn’t wade in the water like Sara does. #calicotude
“you’ve taken him from blush to petal” is a great line, as is the revelation Lupin likes water… which isn’t much of one as he also had his tropical adventure in year one.
As FreyjaRN said, a little more shedding and Lupin will slowly fade back to white. Unless his hair follicles have been infected by the tomato sauce and they keep growing tomato-colored hair :)
As Georgia has always shared with us, Lupin is not most cats. Come on, Lupin, Valentine’s is over. You might as well wash out the pink and go check out the Easter decorations.
There was a stray cat at my cottage that used to come inside. She would sleep in the bathroom sink. One time she was doing so and the tap had been left dribbling to prevent the pipes from freezing. She stayed in that sink until the water was up to her ears, then simply stood up. The water drained and she laid back down. She loved water. If I was in the bathtub she’d get right in with me.
My niece, who was five years old at the time, named her Cigarette for some reason.
I had two siblings that adored water. He would get in the shower with us and even the tub a couple of times. He also would lay out in the cat run during rains. She would play in the lawn sprinkler. Both would sit under running faucets, getting soaked, to drink and both loved getting washcloth baths, her so much so that she’d roll in the whallow they made in the run until covered in dirt and then come so us so we’d bathe her.
My chubby, fluffy white Kuzco enjoys being wet. To the point that he will roll in mud puddles and then come inside to share with me. He also has a lamentable tendency to get completely coated in ice and snow, then demand cuddles.
Smokey at one time didn’t mind getting wet as long as the water was barely running. She’d just sit in the kitchen sink under the faucet and look bored.
I think pet saloons have a particular shampoo that they use on white dogs and cats to help keep their coat white. I think it’s called bluing, or something like that.

Tomato is a tough stain. As an RN, I learned how to get many stains out of white attire. Peroxide on a stain immediately is one technique.
As Lupin sheds, he’ll grow white fur. High quality food or a supplement for hair and fur can help, as will brushing.
Monroe has decided brushing is nice. It made him purr. Or was it attacking a rubber band I have on the oxygen cannula?

Elvis-Anum: Hello, Lupinium. Still enjoying your fruit salad look, I see. Ever since you thwumped into the fruit juice containers in the Royal Pantry.
Lupinium: I think this fruit themed tunic goes well with my fur.
Puckmosis: But now you can’t be invisible against a white background.
Elvis-Anum: And this is not a good thing, because?
Lupinium: Well, as a result of this I’ve been inspired to create some new routines with Ora Z. I’ve been thinking of calling it Multicolored Mayhem.
Elvis-Anum: It makes me want to poof just thinking about it.
Enter Iggy with a Pop
Iggy: Surprise, everyone!
Lupinium: Iggy, would you like to join Ora and Me in a new routine?
Iggy: Sure!
Puckmosis: Steady, Elvis.

Time to take down the paper hearts and Valentine’s paraphernalia and put up the Green! St. Catty’s Day fast approaches. Do you have your:
1) Leprechaun traps?
2) Shamrocks?
3) Gold gelt chocolate coins?
