Oh, the serious look on OZ’s little kitty face in that second panel. And those big green eyes and that twitchy, pointy little tail. And Pucky’s sweet smile in the last panel.
My inferior computer screen has gone blurry and my eyes are leaking! Dang onion ninjas!
Bigger question. Is Saint Nicholas Greek, or Turkish? This could easily start an argument, much like; is it Turkish, or Greek coffee! I made the mistake of mentioning Turkish coffee to a woman of Greek descent and thought she was going to scalp me. LOL
I wasn’t allowed to go to Macy’s Department Store when I was small because my grandfather was Santa Claus there, and my family was afraid I’d blow his cover.
When I finally “learned the truth,” it was explained that Santa Claus is a lot like the mailman. The job descriptions are quite similar — making sure that the right packages and messages get delivered to the right people, so folks have what they need. Just as there are lots of postal workers, there are lots of Santas. Many people with various skills are needed to do all the work — mail sorters, drivers and mechanics, toy makers, sock knitters and cookie bakers, etc.
All sorts of locations, the North Pole, various Post Offices, Reindeer and Postal Vans and various workshops may be involved. Though the uniforms are relatively standard (red and white for Santa’s, and blue and grey for Postal folks,) you don’t have to wear a uniform. Just help make sure folks get what they need; lots of the work can be done at home.
Santas and Postal folk are real busy in early winter; that’s an especially good time for helpers to check in on people to make sure folks have the warm clothing, comforting foods, friendly visits and cheerful messages they need to get them through cold, dark times.
So, what’s not to believe about that? Take it from me…I got the truth straight from my grandfather, Santa Claus.
I love Pucky’s heart. I remember when the vet said he had a good heart. And when Burt reminded him to check his heart when he was keeping Agnes hostage. I’ll try to find dates…..
Did anyone not get the “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” connection?
If you don’t know it, be sure to look it up and read it. It’s a famous newspaper article (an answer to a little girl’s letter) from many years ago. Get the tissue ready.
I got here extra early today (early for me anyway) and there’s already over 100 comments. This is the only strip that I read ALL the comments because the Orb people are so insightful, amusing, and fun to read. If I don’t get a chance to say it later, I hope you all have a grand Christmas if you observe it and if you don’t that you enjoy whatever celebration you do observe.
The vet clinic says the orange plush is doing much better: eating, pooping, wanting petties. She has one more rehydration IV in now, and I’m supposed to find out in about half an hour if she can come HOME!
Sorry to leave everyone dangling. Yes, the orange plush kitty is HOME! And she’s been wanting lots of petties and attention, which I’ve been happy to provide!
She had taken over the exact center of my bed when I wanted to get some sleep, of course. (◕ᴗ◕✿) And just now she moved to the top of my bedside dresser. She’ll be back soon though. It’s sooo good to have her home!

Sweet, Sweet Pucky Bear! But not too sweet to have a post-it note with SWAT LUPIN! on it! And Ora Zella gets to believe in Santa for a while longer.

Isn’t “What does your heart tell you?” borrowed from Aragorn and Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings films?

She thought Santa might be just a fairy tale
Ancient jolly elf? Aye, verily
Doubt was out to get her
That’s the way it seemed
Disappointment chainsawed all her dreams
Pucky spoke with grace, and that did relieve her
Left not a trace of doubt in her mind
Cat above! She’s a believer!
Sweet Pucky’s heart is more than kind
Ora looked inside and shouted out her joy sublime

Meanwhile Back on the Nile
Ora Zed: So there is a Papyrus Cat.
Kat-Mandu: Not just a Papyrus Cat. Purr-Diem delivers papyri in the South, and Sunn-Seti has a route in the West.
Puckmosis: And there are others who deliver papyri. In Afar Beaver Lee Cleary’s grandson is a Papyrus Beaver.
Ora Z: Sound like a lot of adventure.
Puckmosis: Adventure is fine, but you need to be careful, too.
Ora Z: What’s careful? Did I just see someone wave a paw?
Iggy: I can tell you about adventure and being careful.
