Poor Pucky Bear! But at least he got a bit of the spa treatment. Now we wait to see if The Boy will have similar consequences for His actions.

Somehow I can’t imagine Puck (or really any cat) being that cool and calm about getting a bath.

Ora Zella power barfing reminds me of my firstborn son, Aaron. One day when he was about one, he had just had his bottle. I was carrying him upright and facing front (I knew what to expect). He started to urps a little just as I passed the dog. The dog thought it was manna from heaven and started licking it up. Suddenly Aaron power barfed all over the dog’s head and back! The dog didn’t miss a beat and kept lapping it up. Unfortunately, the lion’s share was all over the dog, so I ended up handing Aaron off to Mom and taking the dog out back for a much-needed hosing down.

I think this is at least partially based on real life. Not sure if Ora Zella ever barfed after eating birdseed, but I am pretty sure Georgia has said she has to be careful not to leave birdseed out or Ora Zella will get into it.

Even reading about barfing makes me queasy. One night, when then 3-yr-old DD was repeatedly sick in the bathroom, I was holding her head and wiping it with a cool cloth, then running into the kitchen to vomit there. I felt that I’d earned my motherhood badge that night.

When my son Andrew was a baby he threw up a lot. It was a bottle down and half a bottle back up. We used to call him Mt. Andrewvius. He’s 42 now and is taking me out to lunch today. Happy Mothers Day to everyone. And to the moms out there with young ones— This too shall pass.

Oh dear – did today’s arc bring back a memory – esp seeing Ora Zelle um being sick. Many years ago, we were visiting relatives in Japan. One day, we were going to take the train from one large city in Kyushu back to the large city where Obachan and Ojichan lived. Wasn’t feeling at all well but didn’t say anything. It was a bit of a wait at the train station and right out in the main public part of the station, I got sick. My poor aunt had to do much of the cleaning. Still feel awful about that…8(

My late Lydia was a big fluffy cat. Kohler was a chubby black and brown tabby, whose main goal in life was to annoy Liddy. We took them on a weekly trip to our cabin on weekends. It was hilly, and the two were in one large crate right behind my husband’s head. Liddy never got carsick. Kohler often did. On one trip, I could tell Kohler was about to be sick. Liddy got as far away as she could, but he put his face in her tail and threw up. It was too much for Liddy. She had wedged herself up behind my husband’s head. She made a low noise that sounded like Hurrrl, and then she did just that, all over the back of his seat. I had to clean it up, of course, but it was still pretty funny.

When I was two, we drove across the US to visit relatives. My uncle had just bought a brand new car, brought it home and offered my mother and I the first ride in it. She happily accepted. I was never, and have never since been a carsick rider, but halfway through that ride, I vomited all over the front seat of his brand new car. I mean everywhere! And I still remember it clearly because it was so very traumatic from the POV of getting yelled at and everything that came after. Turns out, I was coming down with the measles, but we didn’t know that at the time. Nothing since then has come close to being as disgusting. Except when I was a patient tech. Mucous. I can’t stand that. :)

Like I said yesterday, the Woman needs to get a dog. Not only would the dog keep Ora Zella in line, but dogs love cat puke as it is high in partially digested protein. Clean up would be a breeze with a dog around.

And before all you squeamish people go ewwwwww…….. that the way of the real world with animals.

This strip hits a little too close to home, so I can sympathize with OZ. My tummy has been acting up a bit lately, being nauseous much of the time. A lot like gallbladder problems, except I got rid of that a few years ago. Well, Partner wanted to go out for Thai food last night. I went for as bland as possible, fried rice with pork and veggies, no spice. But we had barely gotten home before the “Ora Zella Effect” kicked in. Feeling better now, hope this doesn’t become something continuous. For me, or for OZ!

Second, I’ve always hated throwing up. So much so that I’ve almost completely killed the reflex. I usually have to work at barfing when it’s necessary. What I hated was that it always came out my nose—and some of it stayed there, no matter what I did. Turns out my nasal septum was folded like a fortune cookie, and I couldn’t close off my nose with my soft palate. Surgery corrected that problem, but I still usually have great trouble reversing my stomach, no matter how much I may need or want to.

So if your body wants to hork, I knows what it’s doing. Try to aim in a safe direction if you can …

My most memorable such incident was coming home from a church chili supper, which our youth group put on as a fund raiser. One of the young advisers was giving my brother and I a ride home in his Camaro, along with his girlfriend. As it turned out, something in the chili did not agree with me. Fortunately I let them know I was feeling queasy, and they let me sit in front. I confirmed that choice by throwing up on the way home. I can’t remember for sure, but I do think he was able to pull over first — not sure if I’d started at that point, or not; but I do remember hurling into the gutter.

On that note — happy Mothers Day to all who fill that role in any way!

One day when I was in third grade, we had chili for lunch. Mid afternoon, I started to realize that it was not agreeing with my tummy. We were working quietly at our desks while the teacher was having individual individual conferences with the students. I tried to get her attention, but she didn’t see me waving my hand. Finally I got up and headed towards her desk. She started to admonish me to sit down, but she had been teaching for many years and I think she recognized that “I can’t hold it any longer” look on my face. She nodded and pointed towards the door to let me know it was ok to leave the room. Just as I got to the door, I knew I was going to heave. The trash can was next to the door, so I had the humiliating experience of barfing in front of my whole third grade class. At least it all landed in the metal trash can! It took awhile to live THAT down.

There are at least three of them and Momma Raccoon and her daughter from last year and I are all both delighted are terrified watching them go everywhere and get into everything. I wrote a Mother’s Day song about it and set my lyrics to music using Suno. Gonna try to post a link, remove all the spaces to listen.

When our Ollie came to us he was eating the spilt birdseed around the feeders. We enticed him in with real kittie kibble and he’s been more or less contented to stay ever since. He’s never quite lost his food insecurity and remains a contender for the title of World’s Hungriest Cat, but he leaved the birdseed alone now.
