They say we’ll have no warning. All we can do is prepare for the aftermath.

If the pandemic had been anything dangerous, we’d be extinct.

The response of the world’s leaders and health officials was as effective as a toddler’s, complete with the tantrums.

I tell my grandkids that if there is a very bright flash of light get away from the windows. Told them of the Chelyabinsk, Russia air burst.

In a realistic simulation, 98% of those people would have just kept staring at their phones until they vaporized.

As Patrick McManus would say. If you are going to panic, make sure that it is a “full bore” panic.

“Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.”

It’s all about the fact " We always feed the wrong wolf" !! The legend is usually framed as a grandfather or elder passing wisdom to a young listener; the elder describes a battle between two wolves within one’s self, using the battle as a metaphor for inner conflict. When the listener asks which wolf wins, the grandfather answers “whichever one you feed”.

Some say that panic is the reason the government doesn’t tell us the truth about UFOs. I think the real reason is that they’re too embarrassed to admit they still have no idea what’s up with those things, and worse yet some of the best guesses involve the supernatural.

I’ve always been a prepper. Not a rabid end of the world prepper, just what we used to call emergency preparedness. I realized early on that we couldn’t prep for every eventuality, but we should be able to handle the “easy” stuff. Plus, it’s satisfying to think we might actually survive! Need an uplifting story? Go watch or read, “The Road”.

We can cope with the standard run of natural and unnatural disasters. The centuries have let us learn what works. We don’t have the necessary experience to deal some modern problems. And we may not have centuries to learn how to live with them
