She won’t be philosophical at 3:15 pm, either.

She can be philosophical, Calvin. She just chooses not to be.

The real world will teach you to be philosophical, some day!!

One possible reason, Calvin – so you can learn the answers to all of those inane little questions of yours…

My kindergarten kid had to get on the bus at a little after 7:30 am in order to get to class at 9:00. And we had to be there to accept him from the driver… in person… at 12:30 (they ran the route one direction in the morning and the other direction after school, and we were near one end of the loop). It was a genuine PITA getting him out the door by then, even though he was in bed by 8:00. He was (and is, 40 years later) not a morning person. By the time it was okay to feed him coffee, we didn’t have to deal with that long bus route anymore.

Just wait Calvin – some day you’ll be grown up with kids of your own and you’ll get to force them to go to school just like your mom and dad do with you now.

She’s stubborn, too.

At 7 am, MOST aren’t very philosophical!

It’s not any better when you grow up Calvin….

By 7 a.m. I was at work for two hours for a good many years. Got home by 2:30 and got a siesta before the girls got home from school. My Lady Wife worked nights and was home by 11:30, missing bedtime except on weekends. She’s the one that got them off to school in the mornings. Thank you dear.

Moms never can be philosophical until well after you’ve permanently left the nest the day that happens you will get philosophy up the wazoo.

Nobody should be very philosophical at 7:00 AM.

At 7:00 AM I’m reading GoComics

Mom’s philosophic moments are weekdays between 10 am and 2 pm, except during the summer when there are none.

It’s not Philosophy when you shout it!

Yup. Morning is for coffee and growling. Philosophy isn’t really appreciated until tea time.

No one is very philosophical that early.

Another possible reason is that the world will not “stay the same” so Calvin should adjust to meet the standards.

At 7 AM, I’m stumbling out the door to walk the dog. Not much deep thinking before we head to the coffee shop!

If this strip was written today, she would drive him to school in her SUV and not toss him out the door.

She knows the difference between philosophy and whining, too. Smart mom.

Life is like a box of chocolates. If you start early, you can finish them before dinner.

Not Calvin’s mom, of course, but many mom’s get philosophical around happy hour.

Private schools

Calvin and I are kindred spirits. We have the same thoughts and regrettably the same faults.

I can answer every question, kiddo: 1. Because you need to learn the basics of knowledge to function in this world. 2. Learning in a group is more effective than learning solo and teaches social skills (This is coming from someone who was home-schooled and public schooled). 3. You have to learn because life always has something new to throw at you and you need to be prepared. 4. No one EVER stays the way they are. Humans are eternally growing and changing from life to death. 5. The point of this is to be a productive member of society since we’re all in this together. 6 and 7. Things are this way because it’s effective. For now. Maybe in the future society will find something more efficient, but this is what definitely works for the time being. Now shut up and go to school and actually try to learn some math.

Because, Calvin, you need room to grow and you will change over time. Unless upi are a cartoon character.

After the last few days of his insightful artistic expression and cogent ability to describe it, maybe he doesn’t need an education. Then again, Art Major’s aren’t known for obtaining a large salary.
