No matter how screwed up incompetent you are you score brownie points if you land on your feet in front of the judges and raise your hands, ta daaa, like you a natural smooth player. Ta daaa!
Have done that once sitting in a chair that was too close to a hill. Flipped backwards and landed on my feet and did not spill one drop of my drink ideas holding in ny hand. With everyone shocked and glass in hand…I took a bow. That was 15 years ago..today I would break a hip, and be covered in bacardi!
I used to belong to a Christian theatre group called the Dove Singers. Every Easter we’d put on a full-scale performance (in other words, we were more than just a big choir). One year, about an hour before showtime, we were getting the last bits taken care of. Another person & I were carrying a table onto the stage. I stepped on the cloth that was hanging off the table & felt myself falling. I stepped back, but we were at the edge of the stage. Instinct kicked in & I relaxed, fell down the steps in front of the stage, at the bottom ended up in a forward roll, jumped up, spread my arms & said, “TA DAAAA!!!” After that, my nickname in the Dove Singers was “The Fabulous Fallling Fahel”. That was about 20 years ago, and people still talk about it.
Very similar to a technique used by a hypnotist friend of mine. He says no matter what happens in a session, he makes it look like that’s exactly what he intended. According to him, it’s surprisingly effective.
I cut this strip out of the paper during the original run and made a giant copy of it on the Xerox at work, so that I could put it on my cubicle wall. It reminded me that I could learn from my many mistakes, if I didn’t let them get me down. I adore C&H so very much.
That’s what a cat does, when it’s observed doing something clumsey— It stops and washes itself for a few moments with a total air of “I MEANT to do that!”
I worked for an engineer who told me that this actually happened to him when he was out jogging one day, except that he landed on his feet. He was NOT tempted to deliberately repeat the performance.
When I was 10 years old, I learned to do a “shoulder roll”. Since then tumbling class!it has saved me from injury several times, including twice falling from a running horse. Get your kids in a tumbling class!

You only do the TA-DAA when there’s nobody around. If there were, you try to act like nothing happened and skedaddle as fast as you can.

Just like a cat. A cat who misses a jump will instantly start grooming nochalantly with an air of “I did that on purpose.”
