Well, he IS correct.

Just a matter of perspective

I like the dunce cap. They ceased to be used many years B.C. (Before Calvin), but still had comedic value.

Remember the test where he wrote that the first POTUS was Chef Boy-Ar-Dee? (“I don’t test well.”)

I’m not too expert in history but who knows, that might be true if his country is England. Where does he live?

Quite right. As I never tire of reminding people, history ended in 1946. Everything since then counts as “Current Affairs”.

I’ll give him points for creativity. From that point of view – he isn’t wrong.

Why is Calvin being punished??

He told the truth.

A smarter teacher would channel this creativity of Calvin’s into something positive. Have him create a story that hones his writing skills. A student like Calvin needs more challenging assignments!

When was Calvin born? He always seems to be six years old but there are signs that time is passing. On the second camping trip, Calvin complains that it was the same place they went last year and can’t believe that Dad wanted to go back. Mom isn’t pleased about it either. Someone asked, “If it was a year ago. does that mean Calvin is now seven?”

Phoebe in “Phoebe And Her Unicorn” has now officially turned ten. I remember that when she started a new school year someone asked “If it’s a new school year, does that mean Phoebe is now ten?”. Someone else replied, “She’ll turn ten when Calvin turns seven.”

If we take the fact that the strip began in 1985 as indicating that Calvin was born in 1979 then Calvin was very close in saying that the USA was formed around 200 years before he was born.

They say to write what you know about. That’s what Calvin knows.

B.C. doesn’t stand for “Before Calvin”, it stands for “Before Covid”.

Is “Before Calvin” anything like “Pre-Alician”, from Cul de Sac?

There was a short time in my life when I said things were BMT so I didn’t know about them. I learned that other people didn’t realize that BMT meant “Before My Time” and weren’t interested in picking up another spurious abbreviation. lol

We didn’t have dunce caps or time outs in my grade school. You just got written up if you did something the teacher didn’t like

So when (and why) did BC (before Christ) become BCE (before Christian Era)? They are not the same thing.

Imagine if he went to a religious school.

If Calvin had been the first man, would Suzie have been the first woman? And, if so, given their relationship – or lack of it – would the world even exist today?

My first grade teacher still used a dunce cap and stool.

I had a 3rd grade teacher in 1968 named Mrs. Chance who looked like Mrs. Wormwood. She was born in the 1890’s in Oklahoma and survived polio, this lady was tough! Her go to punishment was making kids do push-ups for any transgression of 8 year olds along with smacks on the back of the head, tape over your mouth. She retired shortly after my time with her.

A dunch cap does not suit the bright Calvin for all he is. Before Calvin many of us had poor vocabulary.
