Wait for the right moment to strike.
Hobbes is tired of fish. He wants some red meat.
But Hobbes is your best friend…..
Calvin needs medicine alright, but not for the reason mom, or anyone else for that matter, thinks.
it sure is no fun when you’re the prey by being weak and vulnerable
Hobson’s choice
That’s what tigers do. They weed out the sick or elderly.
The tiger is wise to his con job on his mother!!
Look how short Hobbs’s legs are haha
I love Calvin’s sophisticated vocabulary: “If you try carrying me off to dispatch….”
As if you don’t have enough problems without being preyed on…….
Where is “Dispatch”?? Anywhere near “Dogpatch”??
When I was a small boy, my best friend was a teddy bear. My mother saved a lot of my toys etc., but she did not save teddy darn it. I would love to have him on a shelf today.
Oh contraire…
I’m thinking Hobbes is just messing with him.
It’s culling the weak from the herd, and it’s all part of the circle of life (cue the Disney movie soundtrack).
You’re on the sofa, reading an Archie comic, and a tiger pounces on you.
Ooh, I hate when that happens.
He might try that sweat thing tomorrow morning but I doubt Mom will fall for it twice.
Keep your friends close & your potential dinner closer.
It’s a good thing that your best friend isn’t a shark.
(⚆﹏ʖ ⚆) (^ಠᴥಠ^)
Perhaps Hobbes could have waited for the soup to arrive.
From a Far side cartoon. Two lions looking at a heard of antelopes. One lion says. “I’m tired of the sick and lame, I’m going for a youger one”.
Love Hobbes’ eye peering over the top of the couch! Lol!
My wife would take off from work to keep me warm in bed, if I had a cold. Well, any excuse, really.
Love that one eye looking over the back of the couch! Hobbes always has it in for Calvin when he is weak or distracted.
Hobbes will always have those hunter instincts…
Yes, Calvin – some other “best friends” do. Then they no longer are best friends. Usually because once their true colors showed, I dispatched them :)
The real reason C&H ended, 12/31/95: Calvin sprained an ankle on that last sled ride, and Hobbes just couldn’t restrain his instinctive reaction…
You can take the tiger out of the jungle, but you can’t take the jungle out of the tiger.
Hope Hobbes doesn’t know something that Calvin doesn’t.
How would Hobbes feel about sleeping under the bed tonight? Where the monsters live?
A lot of them do.
Nature at work. Reminds me of the fable about the scorpion and the frog.
Looks like first time Calvin is not faking his illness to avoid school.
I know it’s how a tiger would think but I think this one is disturbing. Then again, we know Hobbes likes hurting Calvin…
IS MOM SMOKING IN PANEL 2???!!!
Sometimes a psychosis can be helpful.
