Wait there is pink skin underneath? I always assumed Merigold had layers of fur with no skin…or at least something less normal

I hope “Shaving the Unicorn” isn’t a phrase that can be taken out of context.

The skin on a horse is black, except under white markings where it is pink. The pink skin is subject to sunburns where the black skin is not. Humans lost their fur to increase the effectiveness of their evaporative cooling system as a hunting strategy. In warm climates a human can literally run any animal into the ground from heat exhaustion/stress. Equines are one of the few mammals that share our ability to thermoregulate by sweating through the skin. If Phoebe shaves off all her hair, Marigold will need sunscreen or her next color will be bright red.

If the Almighty intended for us to go around naked we’d be born that way.

Ugh. I was hoping that Simpson would leave that obsession behind for this comic.
