I’ve seen many things written of what children understand from what they are told about religion. In many cases the words or names are misunderstood, so children just put things in a frame that they DO understand - don’t we all, really?
Our Father, who art in heaven, harold be thy name….
I myself used to get a kick out of one hymn when I was growing up because I heard the words pee-pee in the chorus - wish I could remember which hymn it was - because the flash of enlightenment I had when I finally realized the real words was huge, and the sheepishness was real.
Even kids brought up with Sunday School church and daily devotions can misunderstand what is said or meant.
I love these vintage OBH; I used to think “how can Rick come up with TWO great strips while others stuggle with one” but since I realized that these are vintage, I enjoy them no less! They are all totally great!
Years later I realized the only reason my parents sent us kids to Sunday school was so they could have some time alone for sex. I suspect they weren’t the only parents with that motive.

I must not have paid attention at Sunday School. Nice story Ruthie.

Must have been before the mill closed. My Dad and Uncle Bill worked there in WW2.

I believe Rick paid a tribute to Mel Lazarus in this one!

Good eye, Dry. I missed that Mell’s sign completely.

Did you know God’s name is Harold?

I got as many laughs from the comments here as from the cartoon. With a day starting with this many laughs, my day is good.
