I was about 5 when I saw a bulldog for the first time. I was at the vet’s with my dad and our dog, when a man came in with his bulldog. The critter was so different-looking than our cocker spaniel – scary, ugly, with one tooth protruding – that I jumped on the chair and screamed and started crying.

Neighbors back home had their St. Bernard (female) “tangle” with another neighbor’s male Standard Poodle. The puppies were bizarre looking, to be quite kind about it. Both dogs were spayed/neutered not long after. Wish I still had the photos.
