Cathy: I feel too gross to exercise!!
NOW: The sleek, spandex cross-training tank.
Cathy: I feel too gross to exercise!! Old problem: Indulged in excess food. New problem: Indulged in excess style.
What Cathy doesn’t realize is that at a gym, nobody is watching her, because they are too busy concentrating on their own workout routines to care what she looks like doing hers.
In other words, Cathy, get over yourself and just work out!
LOL, Macushlalondra! You reminded me that my mom sometimes exercises in her house without a shirt on (she has a bra on). She gets hot and sweaty even in winter, so to cool off she takes off her shirt. I don’t see it much because we live in different states, but once was enough…
Funny! I work out at least every other day. Winter in a sweatsuit, but summer in a comfy “tan thru” swimsuit which would probably be embarrassing for my kids or grandkids; I have my own free weights and other stuff so never need a gym.
It doesn’t bother me when people think I am huge (but I don’t wear spandex) at the gym. But when you read people’s list of gym gripes, they DO look and complain about people who are “too big to work out” or wear the wrong size outfits, sweat too much, etc etc. So Cathy isn’t wrong here, just has her priorities off.
As for the housework thing, I used to think that but the studies show the exercise isn’t intense enough or something- you don’t get much out of it. Especially in a smaller home, with no kids to create a real mess, and with her husband doing half the job.
(the dogs might like to be walked farther/faster/more often though)

Walk to work….that’ll take off the poundage…
Oh I’m sorry. Is this your day of the month to go to work?

I feel your pain, Cathy. Now, the workout goal is just to get INTO the workout clothes!

Just work out in your underwear if you have to. But be sure the windows are closed first.

Sheesh, Cathy– just workout at home. Lock yourself in a room with no mirrors or phone in it, put on your most comforatble clothes and go.
Will also give her a break from dogs, inlaws, Irving, parents and any other distractions.

That thing wouldn’t fit her on a GOOD day. Looks like she bought the stuff that won’t zip or fit over her head the other day after all.

Susan, that’s so true! The days that I don’t “work out” I think there is enough with gardening, vacuuming and other housework in my 2 story house.

You’d think that exercise would make us feel less gross.
