I’m with you Gweedo. I almost never get it. I read and reread the “about” thinking I will find some relevance, but never do. I sometimes just scan and sigh and skip. The art work is good comic, but the comic is above my pay grade I guess…
Yes, if you check out the earlier story lines, like the one where Tip has to restore peace to all the weird denizens of Skin Horse’s basement (like the cobras in Dr. Lee’s blouse). If you’ve read it and still cant figure it out, the narcissistic super-intelligent crystalline life form’s have taken over Moustachio, the computer built in the 1800’s, that is Skin horse’s receptionist, and are trying to wipe out other life forms that they hold in contempt…..whew, and that’s the story so far….
..the treasury department makes more cents/sense than this strip…by the way,Britney Spears once said that snakes feel like penises so what’s going on in that blouse is important…
Skin Horse is an ultimate experience! (…in a vicarious, figurative sense…sort of.) It is still the bee’s knees and cat’s pajamas! I think I know Tip, Unity, Sweetheart (the dog sapient), and Mustachio (he’s a fellow faculty member). Look around yourself, you can find parallel entities – some of which will even be people! (And, of course, people who seem more like entities.)
As far as what Britney Spears says – consider the source.
Those are NICE cobras who only want hugs and to be warm. Dr Lee’s blouse offers that … and a world of other possibilities. Happy cobras! (Would you prefer ticked off cobras?)
One of the things I like most about this comic is that it builds on what has gone on before. I’m tired of comics where nothing changes, including the jokes.
It’s the crystals behind Moustachio’s turn to evil? When was that established? I thought he just got wound too tightly and reverted back to his old villainous ways…
also being unstuck is a nice little reference to Shaenon’s other comic Narbonic where Dave Davenport becomes unstuck in time. other course completely non relevant to this comic. but you can read those at

I generally get it, but this cartoon challenges me more than just about any other. Still, I can’t stop returning to it.
