Lucy: Uh... what are you doing? Danae: Putting a textbook under the pillow so my mind can do the studying while I sleep! Lucy: O-o-okay... who told you about this? Danae: Kate. Lucy: Um... did she say anything else? Danae: Yeah, but I don't remember. Lucy: Was it to make sure the book isn't upside down so your brain doesn't take it in backwards? Danae: Oh, that must be it... good catch, Lucy!

instead of painting the gorgeous landscape scene where the sky ended and the earth began, he paints a fat lady. there is another art degree becoming a disappointment to their parents.

Here we have the history of art in a nutshell.
Biltil Premium Member about 12 years ago
The art is an obvious commentary on the power of the female form to warp a man’s mind to the point that they can not even see the glory of the rest of creation.

Mmmmmm! Grapes!!
SClark55 Premium Member about 12 years ago
Yep – that should be his next stop
Gokie5 about 12 years ago
The artist reminds me of some of the gentlemen who comment on “Luann.”
dabugger about 12 years ago
that guy is…..well, gotta see something we just can’t see, or maybe wanna see……
mistercatworks about 12 years ago
It takes a long time to paint something like that. My guess is there originally was a large woman with grapes in the foreground. She got bored, took the divan and left.
tripwire45 about 12 years ago
Ah, the mind of man.

Congratulations on 2 decades. Content and graphics are still way above the crowd. You are an inspiration.

Congrats! One aside… might that be the moon rising?
yimhere about 12 years ago
The sunrise (or set) ain’t over until the fat lady sings….Happy Anniversary – thanks for all the truth in laughter!
cleokaya about 12 years ago
The moon is a symbol for a woman’s life, but maybe I am reading to much into this.
Barbaratoo about 12 years ago
Talk about interpretation! Or should I say, “show” about interpretation! Funny!
Vonne Anton about 12 years ago
Once again, the artist’s work reveals more about the artist than the subject.

OK I read the comic and the comments.Sad but the only thing that comes to my mind is “A Full Moon” or “The Moon Also Rises”.

“Yes I should have refrained, but Wiley is very often subtely political while being typically non-partisan.”
No, I don’t do “subtley political” material. When I do political satire, it is obvious. Otherwise, what’s the point? But what happens all too often here is that some people, like yourself, go out of their way to pretend to read something political into virtually every cartoon (as you did again today) as an excuse to foist their political views on the rest of us who didn’t ask, or care, what your political views are. It is beyond tiresome.

Anon_Mahna about 12 years ago
Two depictions of the beauty that is Nature. I’m not going to ascribe some deeper meaning on this one, just enjoy two lovely sites. And if you don’t care for larger women, that’s ok brother, not everyone likes the same beer or the lusts after the same sports car. To each his own, live and let live.

That was my favorite episode of “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” (with special guest Jessica Lynch,) building a home for the Piestewa family. They left a plaque to her on the top of Piestewa Peak.

Hmmm… came expecting to see loads of comments from offended women. Oddly missing. (But found the oft-sensitive Wiley… hadn’t even thought much of the TM comment til he commented on it… [shakes head]…) What next?
