Heh. Shannon is worse then a normal child, but even good kids have bad days. I think the idea of taking Shannon along is to make immune to the worst temper tantrums imaginable.

For some reason, she does seem to behave better when he’s around though.

How bad could it be? There’s probably only 2.3 BILLION people at the mall right now.

Also, he’s about on par with most dads. We don’t necessarily WANT to go to the mall and take kids shopping…we just do it anyway :)

“Dad test” is the 800-pound gorilla when it comes from a character with commitment issues.

I’m sure Brad would like to say to Toni, “You pass the wife test – then I’ll pass the dad test.” Unfortunately – dead on zingers don’t work very well in the real world.

True story:

Many years ago, couple of weeks before Xmas, I went to a shopping mall to see a movie at the theater, I had gotten there early,expecting a long line. There wasn’t one, so I just hung out in the mall for a while.[]I was just passing by where Santa’s Throne was set up, when this little boy who;d been waiting to see him just up and throws the mother of all temper tantrums. ( What for, I still don’t know. ) I mean this kid just totally lost it. His face turned beet-red, and he was stamping his feet and scrreaming ‘NOOOOO! NOOOO! NOOOOO!" at the top of his lungs. Everyone was staring at him, including the other kids. The little girl who was sitting on Santa’s lap at the time actually started clinging to him. When Mall Security came running, that was when I decided to get out of there.[]So, I went to see my movie, and on the way back to my car, I had to pass by Santa’s throne again. And guess who’s sitting on his lap NOW? Yep, that same little boy I’d seen throwing a fit earlier.[]And with a perfectly straight face he was telling Santa Claus that yes, he’d been a good boy all year.

Shannon is NOT a bad child!!! True she is a bit obnoxious, and obviously has some behavior issues, but she is far from being the unfortunate child who needs a referral to an institution. Actually Toni is posing a very apt question: dads need to be ready to deal with so-called “bad” children. That is the whole point of being a parent generally. I also think that the evidence that a wedding is upcoming is stronger and stronger. And no she is not pregnant, this is a family strip, although…………….

Replying to Donny Wallace: why do white urban women have to be material to anything in your comment? Could not a lot of what you ruminate about apply to women and relationships generally, not only in this culture but other “White”, or “Colored” cultures? Just wondering??

And I’m so glad that stupid bowling alley date story is over.^^The bowling story isn’t over, it’s just “in limbo”, for the time being; it will resume some time in the future, just as the TJ vs Ann story will return (likely after this arc)

Like I said. It isn’t failure to be reluctant…most dads would rather watch the football game then go to the mall and see Santa…being a dad is about making the choice to go to the mall anyway…even if you would’ve preferred to do otherwise. :)

I don’t think Toni’s pregnant. She’s just very sensibly considering that at this point, Brad is about 90 percent likely to be the father of her children, and she should be aware of what his probable parenting style will be.
