Get Fuzzy by Darby Conley for December 18, 2012

Rob: I still can't believe you watch Barney, Buck. Bucky: Hey, man, disrespect Barney at your peril. All that goofy "I love you, you love me" stuff is an act. Trust me. He train's hard. Children's TV is like pro wrestling: It may be scripted, but that doesn't mean it's fake. Rob: Bucky... Bucky: Lemme tell ya something, the average children's TV character could knock you out cold. Satchel: Whoa.

You know, I hate to admit it, but Bucky is right. Those children’s actors HAVE to be tough.

I like it when Bucky gets into the good catnip, you never know what will come out of his mouth next.

I have to say…if you turn off the sound on Cee Bee Bees and CBBC, ignore the pasted-on smiles and just watch the presenters’ eyes…it’s an education. But not the kind Aunty had in mind.

You know Barney’s tough. Those kids only dance with him because he scares the bejeezus out of them backstage.

I t’would not want to be meeting Mr. Rogers in a Dark Alley.

Well, at least he knows it’s scripted. Besides, the injuries can be quite real.

Fred Rogers was a military hero during WWII, so was Bob Keshan (Capt. Kangaroo). One can be tough and tender.

buckeyemark, No, they were not. Do your research.http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/mrrogers.asphttp://www.snopes.com/military/celebrities/leemarvin.asp

Fred Rogers probably wouldn’t have been accepted into any branch of the military because he was Red/Green colorblind, but at any rate he was born in 1928 which made him too young for service in WW II and would have had a college deferment during Korea. Bob Keeshan enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in 1945 right after high school but was still undergoing training when the war ended. so neither were military heroes.

I guess that would explain why Barney wasn’t killed years ago!
